Huntsman Cancer Institute’s Post

Meet Savannah, one of our amazing music therapy interns. Savannah knew she wanted to be an intern here after experiencing the care provided to a family member. During their stay, she witnessed firsthand the empathy, transparency, and genuine kindness of our team. One morning, as she sat in the lobby, Savannah was deeply moved by the warmth and sense of community created by a music volunteer playing for patients and families. In that moment, she realized she wanted to be part of our music therapy program. Savannah’s favorite aspect of her internship is working alongside compassionate mentors who foster a supportive environment for growth. She especially loves building meaningful connections with patients and cherishes each opportunity to listen to their stories. Recently, Savannah was particularly impacted by a patient in palliative care who expressed gratitude for his journey, appreciating the chance to fully embrace the love and support around him. His mindfulness inspires her daily to savor each moment. Thank you, Savannah, for bringing warmth, compassion, and music to our patients and their families.
