You have a personal brand, whether you like it or not. It's how other stakeholders you work with perceive you. It's your track record in and out of where you work. And more importantly... It's the words associated with you. Eg. are you always late to meetings? Are you detail orientated in campaigns? Are you an excellent communicator? These are things that people associate with you. These words make up your brand. So when someone asks: "We're hiring for a PMM who's punctual, detail orientated, and extremely great communicator. Know someone?" your name is top of the list. You have more control over how you're perceived than you think. Future-proof yourself by working on your personal brand. 🤝

Documenting the Journey - Ep 14: Hustle (You don't always need a tool to solve your problems) Sometimes the best way to get shit done isn’t through a tool - it’s pure hard work and team collaboration. As simple as that sounds, it’s a reminder worth revisiting as a gut check every now and then. This team came together and pushed out a HUGE new feature this week, proving once again that being in-office isn’t optional at this stage—it’s essential. There’s no way we would have pulled this off in time without real-time collaboration in the final stretch. The best part? Over the past few months, our organization has opened several roles, and the hiring process has been an insightful journey. While technical skills are important, what we value most is attitude, alignment with our core values, and the ability to connect with the communities we serve. A key requirement for our program roles is proficiency in the local language, not English. We recognise that language can be a barrier during interviews, so we ensure candidates are interviewed by a local language speaker if needed. We want candidates to feel comfortable expressing themselves. Recently, some candidates shared feedback that they felt their English proficiency might have impacted their selection. While this is not a criterion in our process, we appreciate their honesty and want to take this opportunity to clarify our approach. We are committed to transparency and fairness, investing time in helping candidates prepare, addressing their doubts, and setting clear expectations To clarify again: - We do NOT assess candidates based on English-speaking skills. - We DO assess candidates based on their ability to speak the local language, their readiness for the role, and their alignment with our organisational values.
