We’ve partnered with Blue Cross NC to “Change the Game” by hosting a fireside chat to spark conversation and action for youth mental health. It was a pleasure hearing from Dr. Letanya Love, Greg Jackson, Paula Bird, and Juliana Lozano about what changing the game means to them and their contributions!
2/3 of the cab counties throughout the Carolinas actually do not have access to youth psychiatric help. And so that's a big problem in itself. And this is so key, the community coming together to listen to community servants and changing the game as it pertains to mental health. You should remind them that their children and that they're innocent and that the world has told them a vicious lie and they need to be reminded of that daily and looks like us prioritizing our mental health. So that we can support the mental health of others. Part of it is normalizing mental health, right? And being able to talk about it, tell your stories. The other piece is really getting involved and at the local level, change in the game in youth mental health looks like actively listening, actively listening to the needs of our community and our youth. They're struggling to have connection, to feel purpose. They feel lonely. And all of us. As adults, as N Carolinians, as part of the community owe it to the children and young adults at this state to take action and get busy.
