Expecting moms, let's talk about inducing labor with Oxytocin vs. Pitocin! 🤰 🌿 Oxytocin (also known as the “love hormone” or "cuddle hormone”) is a hormone and neuropeptide that plays a crucial role childbirth Here's how it works: During pregnancy, oxytocin levels gradually rise, preparing your body for the magical moment of childbirth. As your due date approaches, oxytocin production ramps up even further, helping to trigger uterine contractions and the eventual arrival of your little bundle of joy! But here's the best part: you can naturally boost your oxytocin levels by engaging in activities that promote relaxation and positive emotions. Whether it's enjoying a soothing massage, cuddling with your partner, or practicing mindfulness techniques like deep breathing or visualization, these simple acts of self-care can help stimulate oxytocin release and support the progression of labor. 💉 Pitocin: A synthetic hormone, is often used medically to induce labor. It can stimulate contractions, assisting in initiating childbirth (AND can cause a lot of problems for people). It is only a necessity to use in certain situations like if the baby's heart rate is failing. That said, if you're eagerly awaiting your baby's arrival and hoping for a natural childbirth experience, remember to embrace those oxytocin-boosting moments of love and connection. Your body knows exactly what to do, and oxytocin is here to lend a helping hand along the way! 🤱💕 . #pregnancy #pregnant #maternity #wellness #expecting #healthy #babybump #momtobe #healthyliving #mommytobe #hormones #babyontheway #didyouknow #fetus #maternal #birth #doula #prenatal #motherhood #mama #momlife #mumtobe #holistichealth #womenshealth #oxytocin #babylove #newbaby #babiesofinstagram #expectingmom #fourthtrimester

🌀 Tip of the day - Move those hips! 🌀 Did you know that gentle hip movements can significantly aid in labor preparation? Here are some valuable benefits of incorporating hip movements during pregnancy: 🔸Optimal Fetal Positioning: - moving your hips encourages your baby to find the best position for birth, which can help reduce labor complications. Hip circles and swaying create more space in the pelvis, promoting better positioning. 🔸Activation of Feel-Good Hormones - rhythmic hip movements can stimulate the release of endorphins, your body’s natural high. 🔸 Relaxation - Engaging in fluid, dance-like movements helps promote relaxation and reduces anxiety. This can create a calm environment for both you and the baby. 🔸Strengthening Core and Pelvis - hip movements strengthen the core and pelvic floor muscles, which are essential for both labor and postpartum recovery. 🔸Self-care - Moving in a feel-good way uplifts and empowers you mentally, physically, and emotionally, providing you with a moment of love, fun, and play you share with yourself and your little one. So turn on your favorite song and move those hips like no one is watching! 💃 What are your favorite ways to move during pregnancy? What makes you feel really good and helps relieve pains and aches? Do you know how stress affects your body during pregnancy? When you're stressed, it can cause blood sugar spikes, leaving you feeling tired, dizzy, shaky, or overly hungry. It can even disrupt your sleep. Here’s why: Stress triggers the release of hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, which prepare your body to ‘fight or flee.’ This raises your blood sugar levels. If stress happens often, your body struggles to keep your blood sugar balanced, which isn't ideal for you or your baby. While treatments like massages or facials might provide temporary relief, they don’t address the root cause of your stress. These quick fixes don’t realign or reset your body to the calm, balanced state it’s meant to be in. To truly manage stress and its impact on your body, we need to target the deeper emotional and physical effects that stress has, bringing you back into balance for the long term. It’s essential to manage stress properly for both your health and your baby’s well-being. Research shows that addressing stress at its core can help regulate blood sugar levels and make your pregnancy easier. Don’t wait any longer! Book an appointment with me today and start feeling better. During pregnancy, many yoga poses need modification to ensure safety and comfort. As your body changes, certain poses can put unnecessary strain on your abdomen, lower back, and joints. Prenatal yoga classes are specifically designed to address the unique needs and limitations of pregnant women, ensuring a safe and supportive practice. Risks of some poses: Abdominal strain: Traditional poses can overextend the abdominal muscles, increasing the risk of diastasis recti. Joint instability: Pregnancy hormones like relaxing loosen ligaments, making joints more susceptible to injury. Balance issues: Your center of gravity shifts as your belly grows, making balance more challenging and increasing the risk of falls. Circulation and blood pressure: Certain poses, especially those lying on the back, can compress major blood vessels, affecting circulation and blood pressure. Why modifications are essential: Protect your core: Modifications prevent undue stress on your abdominal muscles, supporting their integrity. Stabilize joints: Prenatal yoga uses props and adjusted poses to provide extra support and prevent joint injury. Maintain balance: Modified poses help maintain stability and prevent falls, ensuring both you and your baby stay safe. Optimize circulation: Adjustments ensure that blood flow remains unrestricted, promoting better overall health for you and your baby. The Importance of Leaning Into Challenges When Coaching Pregnancy Clients 🌱🤰 Last week, a client came to me feeling anxious after being told her baby was small for dates and that this news carried the risk of needing early induction or, worse, miscarriage. 😔 However, later when we were exploring more I found out that she had completely dismissed the positive aspects of the scan: her baby was healthy, active, and had a perfectly developing brain. 🧠💓 We created a plan that included some dietary adjustments but emphasised the real game-changers: ✨ Rest – to improve placental function and nutrient delivery. ✨ Talking to her baby – to activate the parasympathetic system, helping both her and her baby regulate stress. However the biggest issue at the heart of her challenge was overcoming the fear of attachment. Having experienced a miscarriage before, she believed that loving her baby now would only deepen her pain if something went wrong. 💔 What helped shift her mindset was understanding that her baby was already strong enough to survive, even if it was born early. This realisation brought her the reassurance she needed to bond with her baby. It’s often the smallest shifts that make the biggest difference. 💡 If you’re facing similar challenges, know you’re not alone. I’m here to support you. 💕 #PregnancySupport #MentalFitness #BondingWithBaby #PregnancyAnxiety #CoachingMums #HealthyPregnancy #EmpoweredMums

Have you suddenly felt like crying for no reason after giving birth? Or felt anxious, sad, or even overwhelmed? You may be experiencing the baby blues, and yes mama, it’s normal. 🥰 Follow @labor.nurse.mama for all things pregnancy and postpartum🥰 4 in 5 mamas experience the baby blues due to the sudden drop in hormones that your body experiences after giving birth. Although the feelings may be intense and unsettling, the baby blues usually end very quickly, and you can expect to start feeling better within 2 weeks. I know what you’re thinking- thank goodness! I remember with my oldest I was a hot mess and I seriously thought that was something wrong with me. I know what you’re wondering- is there anything to help it? Here are my suggestions: ➡️ Try to sleep when the baby is sleeping. I know, easier said than done, but sleep is so important in the beginning of postpartum. ➡️ Leave the house- a change of scenery can make a world of difference ➡️ Be sure to eat and stay hydrated ➡️ Don’t be afraid to ask some help from your friends, family, or partner ➡️ Allot some time for yourself and treat yourself ➡️ And if you need to cry, then do it! Sometimes we all need a good cry. However, if your symptoms last for more than two weeks, contact your provider. Did you experience the baby blues?
