On the heels of that recent jobs report... NOT EVERY MONTH CAN BE A BARN BURNER. Nonetheless, we're happy to share 3 impactful placements by the PE Team at High Country Search Group. It's also nice to see the reach of our group having done deals in #realestate, #middlemarketprivateequity, and #investmentbanking We have sneaking suspicion that August's numbers will be more impressive.

'I rejected a candidate with 10 years of PE experience for someone with 2 years. The difference? Preparation,' a Blackstone Partner told me last week. Here's what separates those who land dream roles from those who don't. Working with investment professionals who consistently secure roles at top PE firms, I've noticed they share one crucial trait: methodical, exhaustive preparation. The candidate who secured the role? They spent three months: Analyzing every portfolio company in detail Building models for comparable deals Studying the firm's investment thesis Preparing industry-specific insights The senior candidate who didn't? Experience alone. No deep preparation. I see this pattern repeatedly. The professional who joined KKR? They analyzed 50+ deals before the interview. The Associate who moved to Apollo? They could discuss market trends across three sectors in detail. What looks like natural talent in PE interviews is usually hours of unseen work: Understanding portfolio companies inside out Knowing recent deals and their rationale Preparing thoughtful investment theses Building relevant case studies The Managing Director concluded: 'Give me someone who prepares like their life depends on it over someone who relies on experience every time.' Best part? This isn't about innate ability or years of experience. It's about the work you're willing to put in before the spotlight moment. This is absolutely true! When it comes to interviewing, it’s always quality over quantity. It’s important to really get to know the company, their history, the culture, the brand, and of course the technical skills. I would give advice to anyone currently seeking a new role to take the time to thoughtfully prepare for the next interview as well as asking intentional and insightful questions.
I help firms find the right finance expert remotely within 24 hours: focus on investment talents, VC, PE, FP&A, Controllers, Financial and Data Analysts

So the PE firm fired you? Big deal. Their mission is to change the company's financial performance, and they decided your departure would get them there faster. It doesn’t mean they don’t like you. It means they made a strategic decision, and it's not personal—it's business. If you can figure out why it happened, you’ll be more hirable in the future. Learn from it, adjust, and show your next company that you know how to align with PE goals. Getting fired by a PE firm isn’t a career-ender. It’s a learning opportunity—if you’re smart enough to understand why. I know. It happened to me.

When bad news is actually good news and you realise once again, that in the investment banks, investment funds and hedge fund companies, the interns and greenhorns are back at the table. Because the stock market reactions cannot be understood otherwise. Interns with little experience probably do not see this connection. This slightly weak US data is actually great news, as the FED is now very likely to cut interest rates in September. Good news actually. Except when interns are sitting on the trading desks and the professionals are on holiday. This creates interesting entry opportunities for long-term value investors. #Fed #stockmarket #holidays #financialdata #jobs #joblessclaims #US #financialmarkets #StockMarket #Investing #Trading #Stocks #Finance #MarketTrends #InvestmentStrategy #Equities #StockAnalysis #MarketNews

Looking forward to sharing this informative series on careers in family office. While not always the most obvious career choice, working at a family office offers a variety of benefits and is a lucrative path for many. Stay tuned for the first article where we focus on the topic of tax.
As the family office market matures and becomes increasingly influential in the global business landscape, we see more job vacancies in this sector. While the newer FOs are creating the foundation for future wealth preservation, the more established offices are embracing technology, being proactive about cyber-security, professionalizing their investment committees/policies, retooling and developing their leadership, redefining roles and responsibilities to prepare for the next generation, and evolving how they reward their valuable executives. We speak to individuals who have plateaued in their roles in family office and struggle to find their next role and people who want to break into family office but have little understanding of the roles and career paths that exist. Hence we decided to compile this four-part series covering some of the important topics relating to ‘Careers in Family Office’. Part one is to follow next week on the Stryde Search page. #SFO #MFO #PrivateInvestment #Careersinfamilyoffice #taxcareers #investmentcareers #singlefamilyoffice
