As we step into 2025, we’re reflecting on the immense value of staying connected and expressing gratitude—not just as individuals but as a community. For business owners, sharing updates with those who’ve supported your journey can open doors to new opportunities. Whether it’s a mentor, partner, or referral source, keeping them informed about your progress fosters trust and inspires continued collaboration. At The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of NJ , when our members share their milestones or challenges with us, it validates our purpose and strengthens our mission. It’s these moments of connection that keep us motivated—even during the busiest or most tiring days. They remind us why we do what we do. What’s even more inspiring are the collaborations and relationships that blossom between our members, often with little or no involvement from our team. These interactions highlight the organic power of a connected community. Your testimonies and outcomes do more than inspire us—they also help us justify the resources we receive through grants. It’s a reminder that grants aren’t “free.” They require us to work hard, demonstrate impact, and make a case for continued support. In 2025, let’s keep celebrating progress, sharing stories, and strengthening the bonds that fuel our collective growth. Together, we can achieve more than we ever could alone. Here’s to a year of gratitude, connection, and opportunities! AIXA LÓPEZ, P. E. Sharing our wins is so important. There is nothing bad or wrong about being proud of what you’ve achieved. Life is hard so we all need moments of celebration! Whether it’s achieving a professional goal, reaching a milestone, or simply making it through a challenging year, sharing success can inspire and motivate others. But as we cheer others on, it’s important to stay mindful of how social media can sometimes invite comparisons. Success looks different for everyone, and no two journeys are the same. So, as your feed fills with 2024 highlights, celebrate wholeheartedly and let yourself feel inspired—but don’t let social comparison steal your peace. Your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, matter too. What are you proud of this year? Feel free to share—we’d love to celebrate with you!

This can be challenging for everyone, even us professionals who know that we shouldn’t fall into social comparison. I regularly see posts about people hitting 10k months, million pound deals or reaching some business milestone that would feel like a dream to me. And that’s (largely) okay! (I say largely because, unfortunately, there are some posts that go beyond being a well intentioned celebration and are instead written to inflate someone’s ego at the expense of others, which I can’t tolerate.) We don’t always see the months or years of hard work that has gone into their success. We don’t always know that they started well before we did, or that they took investment and have to share control of their business, or any number of other factors. There’s no judgement here. Everyone who runs a business should run it the best way they can, and that will look very differently depending on the needs of the business. It’s important to remember that your business journey is your journey, and that’s okay! Business is hard. Celebrate surviving. Celebrate your wins. Plan for how you’re going to meet your goals in 2025 and, above all, enjoy the process!

As the year comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on what 2024 has meant for us at Food For Education, especially when it comes to employee engagement. Our team is the heartbeat of everything we do, and their dedication is what fuels our mission to create lasting impact for the children and communities we serve. Truly, when people feel engaged, connected, and valued, they bring their whole selves to work - and that’s where the magic happens! Driving engagement isn’t just a box to tick- it’s about nurturing a culture where belonging, purpose, and connection thrive; and building a team that feels seen, valued, and inspired to bring their best every single day. This year, we leaned into some simple (but truly impactful) actions that have made all the difference: ✨ Listening deeply: We opened up more spaces to hear our team—through performance conversations, townhalls, employee satisfaction surveys, team check-ins, and even those casual chats that turn into powerful conversations that inform business process. ✨ Celebrating our people: From shining a light on individual wins to cheering on team milestones (all of which absolutely blew us away!), we showed up to recognize and appreciate the contributions that drive our work ✨ Living our values: Whether in the day-to-day grind or moments of team connection, our shared purpose grounded us, kept us resilient, and reminded us why we do what we do. I'm learning that significant impact often occurs not only during grand, dramatic events but more so through small, seemingly insignificant interactions, decisions, and experiences that accumulate over time, gradually shaping team dynamics. Retrospectively, I’m filled with admiration and gratitude for the dedication, energy, resilience, and heart of every team member who has made this journey possible. Cheers to you Nyawira Njoroge CHRP (K) Irene Kimani Betty Maingi Eva Njaaga Mohamed Abdalla Ian Gitonga Precious Mwinzi. Thank you for your active leadership Wairimu Nyandia. Here’s to even greater connection and growth in 2025! 🚀
