#AIHyDrop, an innovative project dedicated to the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for designing urban airspace for drones, is set to attend two significant upcoming events in the aviation sector. These events are the U-welcome workshop and FLY AI Forum 2024, both of which promise insightful discussions and valuable networking opportunities. Firstly, #AIHyDrop will participate in the U-welcome workshop taking place on April 9-10, 2023, in Barcelona (https://lnkd.in/d9PMFNkb). This event aims to foster collaboration and provide a platform for discussions on the key topics and challenges arising in the early stages of implementing U-space technologies. By attending this workshop, #AIHyDrop team members will have the opportunity to engage with current and future implementors, share experiences, and address concerns about U-space and its digital services. Moreover, they will contribute valuable insights during dedicated sessions covering various technical and related topics, which will be collected in a handbook called “U1 and U2 implementation best practices handbook.” This handbook will serve as a crucial output of the U-ELCOME project, helping to harmonize Europe’s approach to U-space implementation. The Future Flight Challenge has released this powerful resource outlining the key use cases for future flight technologies – from transporting goods and people to inspecting our critical national infrastructure. The difference drone inspection can make for our critical national infrastructure is clear; making our infrastructure more sustainable, secure, safe and effective by transforming data capture. As the report states: “Better data, captured more efficiently, with no potential risk to individuals and using green technology will transform aerial inspection, monitoring and survey.” UK Research and Innovation’s Future Flight Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK and ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council, is helping Britain build the ecosystem needed to accelerate the introduction of advanced air mobility, drones, and zero-emission regional aircraft in the UK. To have been a small part of this project has been such a learning experience. When you combine two tech industries the outcomes are just phenomenal and Genius is the best example! After four years of hard work, together with our customer TDC NET and partners, I would like to celebrate our joint achievements within the Genius research project. This project has had the goal to enable drones to fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) while side by side with unmanned aviation, focusing on Denmark and the EU.   The project has led to several innovative and promising results: 💡 A reliable 5G network with 3D coverage for drones in HCA airport Denmark. Ericsson and TDC NET presented real time observability for critical control communication like C2 inherent in 5G technology reliable connectivity with Quality of Service (QoS) during International Drone Show 2023. 💡 Safe, remote operation of multiple drones in a “U-space”. This highlights our successful implementation of a dynamic SIM density map in Odense city, radio system-based location estimation to avoid GNSS spoofing and in-field verification of Ericsson’s 3GPP RTK (Real-Time Kinematics) technology with centimeter accuracy in 3D. 💡 Reliable connectivity in air, drone management and flight safety has been taken into consideration and influencing on European drone regulation such as EASA and global level of impact such as GSMA and CAMARA for new global Telco APIs development to cater for drone/aviation industry. 💡 Finally, Ericsson and TDC NET received the prestigious @GSMA Foundry Excellence Award at #MWC Barcelona 2023. "A team of roboticists at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, working with a colleague from the University of California, has designed, built and demonstrated a bird-like robot that can launch itself into flight using spring-like legs. The group describes their robot in a paper published in the journal Nature.
