This caught my eye at the weekend: An interactive map showing Australia's renewable energy projects - solar, wind, offshore wind, pumped hydro and battery. What also caught my attention was the undertone of how this important data visualisation was presented: Australia's coastline 'aglow' with construction and horizons blighted by turbines and other energy infrastructure. In an era of misinformation, facts and context must be front and centre. Scores of these projects won't be built due to environmental impacts, community concerns, rising costs, supply chain issues. But they have to be proposed so they can be discussed and investigated. We should use this kind of data carefully, with context, and not stoke fears of a 'green wave' about to swamp regional Australia. https://lnkd.in/gi3ms8i5
