Marriott International continues to hold its #LeadingPosition as the largest inventory holder in the country. #IHCL, although having the highest number of hotel properties, ranks second due to a lower rooms-per-hotel ratio compared to Marriott. #RadissonHotelGroup, #ITCHotels, and #Accor take the third, fourth, and fifth spots, respectively. #LemonTreeHotels is expanding aggressively to maintain its sixth position, followed by #HyattHotels, #IHG, #Sarovar, and #Wyndham. Today, our partners at MGM Resorts International announced the debut of the W Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay, marking another step in the company’s long-term strategic licensing agreement with Marriott International. Earlier this year, the addition of 11 MGM-operated, VICI-owned properties to the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program made VICI one of North America’s largest owners of Bonvoy-affiliated hotel rooms.
Today alongside Marriott International we officially mark the debut of W Las Vegas, transitioning the iconic 1,117-suite tower on the Mandalay Bay campus into the globally recognized W Hotels brand. This collaboration unites two hospitality leaders, offering Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards members unprecedented access to both companies' collections of resorts, along with elevated experiences and unmatched rewards. Marriott International has acquired Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway) and struck a long-term agreement with Trailborn as part of their 2025 ‘Outdoor-Focused Collection’. Marriott was one of the first major hotel operators to test the #outdoorhospitality waters with selected in-house #glamping developments; but had so far never followed through with a dedicated strategy. Interestingly, Marriott seems to have found that in-house development is not the right strategic move for experiential nature hospitality. Possibly because it requires such a special skill (and mind) set! Congratulations to Jon Staff for this successful exit.
