Who is in the kitchen? We're wrapping up a fantastic team meeting just in time for some well-deserved summer fun! 🌞 We celebrated our successes, identified areas for improvement, and set thrilling goals for the future. Looking forward to a summer filled with relaxation and fresh inspiration. Cheers to growth and progress! A heartfelt thank you and kudos to Sofia Ercolano, our analytical mind, first thinking, processing, and then coming up with interesting ideas, and Sofia Navarro, who is our creative mind, visuals, canva, and giving me a hard time on video shooting, what to say and the like. The impact of a diverse team can never be understated. The more different minds, coming from different backgrounds, in the team, the more successful you will be, as ideas spark from these brains that are not alike. Meaning you will improve your business. We're not resting on our laurels. We have more initiatives to come, more programs to create, and more individual coaching sessions to give. Meet Lawrence Chen, our Chapter's Creative Lead and ADPList Ambassador 🌟 💬 Tell us about yourself. Hi, I’m Lawrence! I run a creative agency called Salt Creative House (saltcreativehouse.com), where we help push important missions forward as professional bedtime storytellers. I am also working on a project called Observe with an aim to help accelerate job exposure for career-uncertain students. We’ve learned that 80% of students end up changing their major before graduating due to career indecision. Imagine Airbnb, but to allow students to book real-world / out-of-the-classroom job experience. Besides that, my experience includes design, tech, creative media, and marketing. Good design and feel-good experiences bring me a lot of joy. FUN FACT: I won 1st place at a Dance Dance Revolution competition when I was in 5th grade, and I can still play on the hardest mode to this day. 💬 How do you see this community evolving and growing in the next year? I believe the ADPList Atlanta community will continue to evolve into a very connected and supportive network of people who come from all fields. It’s exciting to see the show out at each event. Rain or shine… ADPList’s Atlanta chapter shows out! It’s awesome to know it’s only the beginning. Did you know? The chapter’s genesis was this Summer. Whether you are a part of the hipsters (creatives), hackers (tech), hustlers (business), and beyond; there are meaningful relationships happening. Within the next year, I imagine more events to help develop and support each other. There will be more workshops to help members practice soft skills, as well as speaker events where our wonderful mentors share their insights into the latest trends across various industries. We have a lot planned to help everyone get connected and level up together. People often underestimate me. On the outside, I seem ‘fluffy and sweet ‘ and rarely make serious posts. I love emojis, enjoy my life, dislike formalities, and I’m not a people pleaser.🐑 I don't have formal qualifications; I went straight into a hairdressing apprenticeship from school. In 3/4 of the salons I worked in, I was soon promoted to manager and won many awards for the salons.💇🏽♀️💇♂️ Nine years ago, I took a huge gamble and sold our family home 🏠to buy a run-down hair salon. Sales soon increased by £6000 per month!!!!Then lockdown hit hard, but I am still trading. I had to rethink my strategy, and I'm proud of my 6 figure business, we have a data base of over 3000 and welcome around 30 new clients each month whilst still retaining our regulars. Five years ago, I launched my first dating site. Unfortunately, I trusted the wrong people and ended up giving it away (as wanted to concentrate on geek) to someone I thought was a friend who would bring passion and ideas to it. Instead, it has been neglected, 😢which has been heartbreaking. Two years ago, I launched GEEK Meet a dating app .After being rejected on Dragons' Den, Determined to prove them wrong I pivoted and launched GEEK Meet Club a year ago. It’s now the UK’s first all-in-one digital platform for self confessed geeks & nerds 🤓and is growing well, Im proud of my commitment to manually vet members to keep spammers out. People over profit is the only way I work. I’ve continued to win awards and have had numerous press, TV, and radio appearances. I expect everything to be done yesterday, have a fierce temper, and suffer daily with anxiety, but "No" is never an option for me. The above has been achieved by passion determination and bloody 24/7 of hard work. The moral of the story: don't judge a book by its cover.
