Greenbelt Alliance’s Post

What an incredible cleanup day at Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge, in Newark! Our 85+ dedicated volunteers removed invasive plants, cleared out a bicycle, car parts, tires, and countless pieces of trash from this vital wetland ecosystem. Special thanks to everyone who joined us in making this happen—and an honorable mention to our four-legged helper, Aquiles, who supervised the operation! Wetlands provide essential ecosystem services, protect us from sea level rise, and provide critical habitat for wildlife. Ahead of #WorldWaterDay, join us in our continued efforts to protect the Newark Baylands from development by staying engaged, speaking up at city council meetings, and spreading awareness.
