Today is National Shrimp 🦐 Day. Shrimp farming in its earliest form began centuries ago in Asia, where wild shrimp fry migrated into tidal impoundments intended primarily for milkfish, mullet and other coastal fish Shrimp have been a valued and delectable food item since the earliest of times. Throughout the Ancient Roman and Greek era, it was discovered that people made cookbooks with recipes featuring shrimp as early as the 4 th and 5th century A.D. One dish that was popular during this time included wrapping the shrimp in fig leaves, cooking them, and serving them with a honey glaze. In 1280, Marco Polo learned about the nutritious value of shrimp during his travels to China.  Shrimp collecting methods were introduced to the United States during the 17 th century. The Rangpur lime tree grows a citrus fruit that is a hybrid between the mandarin orange and the lemon. It is named after the Rangpur region in Bangladesh, where it was originally cultivated. The name lime employed in connection with this fruit is misleading and should be avoided since the only similarities between it and the true limes are that both have small flowers and because they are both highly acidic and can be used as substitutes. Resemblances between the Rangpur and mandarin are obvious and numerous, and for this reason it is best included under the mandarin-like fruits. Resembling an orange or a tangerine, Rangpur limes are generously filled with delicious juice. This very special citrus fruit offers a tart acidic complex flavour.
