These 5 PPC mistakes quietly held back my performance for months Once I stopped doing these, everything changed. PPC isn’t a one time project — it’s constant testing, refining, and avoiding bad habits. Over the years, I’ve made every PPC mistake in the book. But once I fixed them — my ACOS dropped, TACOS improved, and results got more stable. Here are 5 things I stopped doing, and it made a huge difference • Don’t turn off campaigns completely. Drop the budget to $1 to keep campaign history and make it easier to scale later. I do this when I’m temporarily out of stock or running a deal and want to reduce spending, but plan to bring the campaign back. • Don’t pause winning keywords or targets. Even if you want to isolate them in a new campaign, If a keyword is converting well with good ACOS and CVR, never pause it. • Don’t optimize based on the last 2 days of data. Amazon’s reporting lags, so if you’re optimizing today (e.g. March 24), only use data from March 21 and earlier. The last 48 hours are often incomplete — and usually show a worse performance than it actually is. • Don’t group multiple parent ASINs in one campaign. Unless it’s a catch-all Auto, keep parent ASINs separate for cleaner data and more control. • Don’t optimize profit and ranking campaigns the same. Profit = focus on ACOS. Ranking = focus on CVR and top-of-search impression share. Different goals need different strategies. I’ve tested all of these. Once I stopped doing them, my PPC improved and finally pushed my brand forward — not held it back. It should be the same for you. ♻️ Repost if you want your network to stop wasting money.
The lag in Amazon's reporting can be so misleading, patience is definitely a virtue here
Great breakdown! I’ve seen similar pitfalls in my experience too, and I even documented 48 deadly mistakes that can slowly undermine PPC performance. Keeping campaigns live with a minimal budget, preserving winning keywords, and relying on complete data instead of last-minute figures are game changers.
Great breakdown - PPC is about strategy, not just spend
This is gold for anyone stuck in the 'why isn't PPC working?' loop. Last point regarding profit and ranking campaigns has the biggest impact in my opinion. You don't want to optimize only based on ACOS. Look at CVR as well and prioritize keywords with higher CVR. Long term this will boost your organic rank across the board.
The $1 budget trick is undervalued. Many sellers shut down campaigns and then struggle to regain momentum.
Great points here! Continuous learning and adapting is key to PPC success.
Smart move on not pausing winning keywords - consistency is the main factor
Strong list. The parent ASIN point is huge, clean segmentation gives you clarity and control most sellers miss.
Great insights!

2wAmazon PPC is a tough game indeed. Play it smart by focusing on strategy. I like your idea of lowering the budget to $1 rather than shutting down the campaign. It is smart. Ouriel Rybski
