Global Finance & Technology Network’s Post

International fragmentation is on the rise, weakening global systems and the people they serve. Attendees at the #InsightsForum2024 and GFTN Forum Japan roundtables led by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, Cambridge Judge Business School may have observed fragmentation of global digital currency initiatives, while those attending the roundtable led by Swift may have heard the implications of a lack of common standards for interoperability. These questions were raised at a collaborative design-thinking workshop with Finternet Lab at the Insights Forum, attended by representatives from from SWIFT, HSBC and Ayra, where participants identified key issues to address. This paper recommends a body to coordinate digital finance policy, standard-setting, and interoperability on a global scale.
