Here is the pre-title teaser to Part One (of 2) of my films about duelling, currently showing on the History Hit channel. See link below and note that they have a 14-day free trial. It is very easy to log in and view from anywhere in the world.
Part One deals with duelling with swords and Part Two with pistols. Part One has been very kindly received. Part Two will be out soon. Here are some of the comments people have left about Part One:
“Fantastic production - entertaining and educating in equal measure. No duel inducing insults required here!”
“Fascinating and entertaining telling of a complex historic episode.
As usual told with real first-hand knowledge.”
“An incredible program. Love the presenting, the action and the authenticity. More of these, please. Epic history telling!”
“ I love Mike Loades commentary”
“Absolute gold!”
I am so grateful to the people who take the time and trouble to leave a comment after watching the film. It is wonderful to hear from viewers and to get this feedback.
Even if you think you know all about duelling culture, I think there may some things in this that surprise you. Give it a look and let us know.
Oh - and by the way, the subtitles are auto-generated. I clearly need to work on my diction, since they have rendered duel as jewel! The word duel, also incidentally, does not necessarily imply dual. It derived from the Latin bellum (battle/war) and 'b' was often written in old script as 'du' , which gives us duellum, subsequently rendered in English as duel - it just means a combat.

The Empire Strikes Back - "Do or do not; there is no try."
The lesson -
This just in from Pedantry Corner...I think you'll find that this is actually episode 5, or film number 2 if you are a Gen-X-er with it being the sequel to Star Wars.
Don't listen to him! The actual lesson are words from a little green man with large ears. I assume that it was a male of the species, never actually checked Yoda's credentials.
So, if there is something you want to do, don’t over-think, do it, or don’t do it. Keep life as simple as you can, because there's a lot of noise out there trying to over-complicate things.
It’s been TOO long, and we’re ecstatic to finally bring you EPISODE 2 of Behind the Score with Devin Delaney! 👻
Unlock the magic behind the scenes and delve into a composer’s mind, where Devin Delaney uncovers the artistry of his methods, as well as sharing his inspiration behind the score and the prominent themes that brought it to life.

My take: Episode 1
There are two types of movies: one with swords and guns and the other with just words.
On one hand, There are some walls a bullet can't penetrate but words will shatter and scatter.
On the other hand, there are some worlds that words won't penetrate but swords or guns will split and shatter.
Regardless, whether guns, swords or words, these movies all have impacts.
What does☝️ this mean?
Your actions, story or journey can be quiet or silent, loud or calm.
Either ways, make sure they have the right and intended impacts; as these words do.
Liam discusses the pros and cons of playing the long game and some of his own horror stories in property 😱

Reviews of DUNE: PROPHECY (plus the 2003 mini-series sequel CHILDREN OF DUNE) “The producers of Dune: Prophecy say they are honouring the ‘tone’ of the Villeneuve films – a sort of elevated gloominess that is both awe-inspiring and stonkingly grim. It is certainly beautiful to look at and features the franchise’s signature asymmetrical spaceships and top-drawer costuming. But this is very much its own show and can be enjoyed even if you’re only vaguely familiar with the source material.”
Ed Power, The Telegraph
“Dune: Prophecy looks great, with its crisp monochrome styling and its nicely alien architecture, the latter based around the hairpin curves evoked by the franchise’s title font. The world it builds – intense, intellectual, unforgivingly meritocratic and yet tinged with the unpredictable and supernatural – is a template for a bracingly different kind of science fiction. But it has work to do to overcome this tentative start.”
Jack Seale, The Guardian
“I do appreciate that this is a big series headed by two women in their fifties and you can’t say that too often. There’s not much humour to be found here though. The main light relief is when beautiful people have sex and snort drugs. But if you like this sort of thing, it is well done. Though it wouldn’t hurt it to lighten up occasionally.”
Carol Midgley, The Times
“With so much crammed in, the first 10 minutes of the opening episode alone could have been stretched out to an entire episode. Yet there’s still plenty here to stick around for. Gorgeous production values and a focus on the stranger, even scary elements of Frank Herbert’s world offer a different path into the Dune universe that more than justifies this series’ existence. This is more than just a mere money-grabbing spinoff.”
