At Frontex, safeguarding European borders is our primary mission. To accomplish this, we are exploring new capabilities but harness the power of innovation and technology. However, implementing new solutions at scale is a challenging process. That's why we use pilot projects to test different innovative technologies and solutions. To do this in a systematic way, we have developed our own pilot project methodology. In this video, we're going to briefly examine the six steps of this approach. So that you have a taste of what it's all about. We start with step one, strategic alignment. By aligning with our core priorities and working with stakeholders, we ensure that our projects are In Sync with our vision and we also focus on the end user. This leads us to Step 2, concept initiation. Here we uncover current needs and gaps, seek out potential technologies, and draft our best pilot concepts which align with Frontex's goals. Next up is Step 3, the pilot project planning phase. This is where our concepts take tangible form. We map out work plans and develop testing scenarios, gather business needs, and analyze the relevant regulations and policies with plans. In hand, we shift to action during the project implementation phase. We start with system acceptance tests, ensuring that chosen technologies meet our standards. This is then followed by operational trials, supported by our testing protocols. Once the pilot project wraps up, we move to Step 5, concept assessment and validation. Here we evaluate the performance, gather crucial feedback and identify areas of refinement. And then, finally, we get to stage. This is where we share the results and lessons learned with the rest of our stakeholders. Progress comes step by step. We share our insights and lessons, ensuring that every project paves the way for the next. Applying the methodology and its tools helps Frontex achieve comprehensive project documentation, objective evaluations, and consistent innovation. This is how we bring new technologies to the European Border and Coast Guard.
