Saw this image from our investor Vinod Shankar at Java Capital, and couldn’t help but feel proud and also a bit fired up as a product development engineer/founder running a manufacturing export company from Coimbatore/Trichy. While some folks keep posting the same old “India vs China” startup comparison… India = Delivery apps, fantasy sports, reels China = Semiconductors, EVs, automation, exports Vinod called it out clearly and backed it with facts. We’re not just talking about deeptech. We’re getting it. Executing it. Scaling it. From India. Yes, we cannot be competitive with China in all aspects, but we have real use cases where our Tier2 suppliers from India manufactured and exported goods to 18 countries, and almost half of the buyers were buying it from China before. At FRIGATE, we’re solving one of the most foundational gaps in Indian industry. Reliable, data backed, export-grade precision manufacturing. This isn’t a pitch deck idea. It’s happening and we know what we are doing. Today, parts made through our platform go into Aerospace assemblies alongside cables & wires Robotics systems Fluid handling and motion control High-spec D2C hardware We’re onboarding Tier-2 suppliers, building execution infrastructure, automating RFQs, and helping Indian shops compete globally. When Piyush Goyal sir asked, “Are we going to be happy being delivery boys and girls?” Our answer is: No. We’re here to build the systems that power the world’s supply chains. And please once visit IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) Forge Innovation & Ventures to check out the 100's of deeptech startups who solves the real problem. Yes, We cannot scale faster like a food delivery app. It needs time, as real engineering is involved. Shoutout to Java Capital and our other investors Arali Ventures Capital-A Forge Innovation & Ventures and every investor backing actual deeptech founders in India. This is how we move the country forward not through reels and flash, but by rebuilding the factory floor. Let’s build something serious. I am tagging other deeptech investors and other startups from India as well. And lets tag all the deeptech company you know here as well. If we don't support ourselves, then who else will. When the spotlight often shines on speed, virality, and surface-level innovation, this is grounding. Wholesome, dependable, and absolutely necessary. It’s a movement rooted in something far more enduring: capability. The kind that strengthens our national backbone and redefines what “innovation from India” looks like. It’s inspiring to see ventures like FRIGATE not only imagine better systems but actually build them. Brick by brick, part by part. The pride here isn’t just in scale, but in substance. In showing the world that Indian manufacturing doesn’t need to play catch-up, it’s ready to lead. Thank you for doing the hard, critical work. The kind that doesn’t trend on reels but quietly powers the world. This is the India I want to bet on.
This is the kind of real talk the Indian startup ecosystem needs more of. Not everything scalable is valuable — and not everything valuable scales fast. Massive respect to what the team at FRIGATE is building — precision manufacturing, export-grade quality, Tier-2 empowerment. This is the silent engine India needs to unlock global leadership in hardware and deeptech. At MadVR Solutions Private Limited we’re on a parallel mission: transforming how surgeons are trained using high-fidelity, VR-based medical simulation. It’s not just about immersive tech — it’s about building confidence, competence, and global-grade medical talent from India. We’re not chasing virality. We’re chasing impact. And we’re not alone. India’s deeptech wave is rising. Back the builders. Back the ecosystem that’s quietly redefining what “Made in India” really means. #DeepTech #MakeInIndia #PrecisionManufacturing #MadVR #VRforHealthcare #MedicalSimulation #HardTech #IndiaStack #ExportFromIndia #Founders #Frigate #RealEngineering #GlobalFromIndia #LinkedInForStartups
While there may be legitimate anger in reacting to the comparison, which is partly not fair. We have huge potential and the need to do a lot. We are not doing enough. Instead of justifying, we should feel that we have to focus on technology based ventures. As someone reviewing pitches and attending competitions, I am not very happy with some of the same proposals appearing again and again, which are not revolutionary. Most of them are copies and superficial. And very disappointing. It is not about scale and unicorns alone. It is also about serious problems that require solutions relevant to our nation.
I think what he meant is we need more nation builders and not just businessmen. A fine balance between socialism and capitalism. As much as I appreciate the initiatives by folks like yourself who break out of the herd and set commendable examples, it does pain me a bit that your company page FRIGATE still says Dover, Delaware and not Coimbatore, India. There might be valid reasons for doing so, like legal, taxation, marketing and branding, but personally it still disappoints me that many Indian companies end up doing so. I hope that changes some day.
Congratulations to make reality export grade precision manufacturing Dr.Tamizh Inian. Times are changing !
Great Article . Adding one more excellent deep tech startup Bellatrix Aerospace.
,,,,,,Yes, We cannot scale faster like a food delivery app. It needs time, as real engineering is involved...... NAILED IT. Dr.Tamizh Inian
I love seeing stories like this...it’s proof that deeptech isn’t just talk, it’s action. The precision manufacturing focus is so underrated—it’s what quietly powers so many industries. Curious, what’s been the biggest challenge in scaling globally?
Dr.Tamizh Inian it's refreshing to see founders tackling manufacturing head-on. reminds me how real innovation often gets overlooked for what's flashy...building systems like this feels like the long game.
