💡 Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast 🍲
❓ How Important is Culture Management?
❓Is culture only related to the business environment?
❓Can a person survive without adapting to new conditions?
🌟 #SelfReflection 🌟
I spent my entire life in India, where I thought culture was just about religion, beliefs, festivals, and communities.
But is that it?
I moved to Germany in 2021 and encountered typical stereotypes about Germany and the German people. I thought culture meant nature, work-life balance, a new country, people, and lifestyle.
But is that it?
I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to start from scratch. It's been close to three years now in this new country. I began my new journey at Gisma University of Applied Sciences, Potsdam, where I met amazing people from around the world and learned new concepts in management and sustainability. I currently work at Huhtamaki which contributes to sustainability.
So, is culture about sustainability and people?
I moved from the world's most populated country to a tiny village with only 1,500 people—less than the population of the gated apartments I lived in back in Bangalore, India.
I found my definition of culture in an elderly man on support wheels who greets me daily on my afternoon walk. He visits our company canteen for his midday meal, served with respect. I discovered that he is a former Huhtamaki employee, and the company offers lunch to former employees as part of their community connect initiative. Huhtamaki Ronsberg provides a place for these retirees to meet friends and fellow ex-colleagues.
📚 #Learnings
Whether it's Spring Fest, Oktoberfest, Mai Baum, or Nikolaus celebrations, it's the people who bring things together. It's the communities that stand together, and it's the businesses that embrace CSR not out of obligation, but because they genuinely care.
#Culture can be taught but not enforced; you can only embody it.
I discovered my definition of culture, and now I own it. Here's a sneak peek into German culture from the South.

NAIDOC and beyond Innovative Manufacturing Meets Indigenous Culture Amaroo's Vision
NAIDOC Week 2024 ignites a spirit of resilience and pride as we celebrate the theme "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud."
Amaroo's vision goes beyond just celebrating NAIDOC Week. We strive to create inclusive and diverse workplaces that honour and uplift the indigenous culture all year round. Our commitment to supporting and promoting indigenous businesses is reflected in our supply chain, where we actively seek out partnerships with local indigenous companies.
We believe that by incorporating traditional knowledge and practices into modern manufacturing processes, we can not only preserve the wisdom of our ancestors but also create innovative and sustainable solutions for a better future. From using natural materials to implementing traditional techniques, Amaroo is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the manufacturing industry.
But our work doesn't stop there. We also prioritize hiring and training indigenous employees, providing them with opportunities for growth and advancement within our company. By doing so, we are not only empowering individuals but also creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
At Amaroo, we understand that the preservation of indigenous culture is crucial for the well-being of all Australians. That's why we are committed to partnering with indigenous communities to support cultural education programs and initiatives that promote understanding and appreciation for their traditions.
We believe that by embracing indigenous culture in our workplaces, we can create a stronger sense of belonging and unity among all employees. This can lead to increased productivity, creativity, and overall well-being in the workplace.
As we continue to push boundaries and innovate in the manufacturing industry, let us never forget the importance of honouring and preserving our indigenous culture. Let's keep the fire burning bright for generations to come. So, join us on this journey as we strive towards a more inclusive and culturally rich future. Together, we can make a difference and create something truly beautiful.

74% of highly skilled workers feel there are more or better opportunities for them outside of their organization.
At Holcim, we took this statistic very seriously and decided to act.
We launched CareerHub, our first internal Talent Marketplace, in collaboration with Gloat. Following a successful pilot, we have now rolled it out to our population — with more to come.
With CareerHub, our people hold the keys to their own journeys. They can explore full-time and part-time roles, move across functions, geographies, and hierarchies, and connect with colleagues across the organization. This is about more than just mobility—it’s about empowering our employees to take charge of their growth, build their networks, and unlock their potential within Holcim.
Thanks to Everyone who made it happen especially Milos M. and Lila Mikcova and all our Senior and HR Leaders who believed in the change.
✈️ Overcoming Challenges at 30,000 Feet: How One Conversation Led to (some) Insight on Innovation and Sustainability ✈️
Here’s my little story on facing anxiety and finding opportunities in unexpected places: I’m mildly claustrophobic, so long flights (hello, Chicago–Munich!) test my patience and force me to practice deep breathing. But here’s my coping strategy: To get me through post-boarding and take-off, I chat with my seat neighbors to distract myself. 😊
Over time, I’ve met incredible people and had valuable conversations on the most interesting subjects.
Two years ago, I sat next to Olivia Erfurth Dessy, a Global Marketing Manager with Gualapack. She’s obviously very good at her job, as she passionately shared how Gualapack’s products make a difference in everyday life. By the time we landed, I knew more about 🌱 sustainable packaging and flexible solutions than I ever thought possible—uncovering an area I’d rarely explored before. ✨
Even better, we stayed connected here on LinkedIn ever since.
Last week, she pinged me: “Flying the Chicago–Munich route again?” It was the perfect reminder that sometimes facing discomfort head-on leads to unexpected friendships, learning, and insight. 💡💬
Olivia, here’s me hoping for another long-haul seat buddy reunion and another great conversation soon! 🤝

At Adina, we firmly believe that happy employees make happy guests. That’s why putting our team members at the centre of everything we do isn’t just a strategy - it’s who we are and aim to be. ❤️
Our goal is simple: When our people feel valued, supported, and empowered, they bring their best selves to work - and that directly impacts our guest experience. By prioritising employee benefits and fostering a positive, inclusive culture, we aim to create an environment where every team member thrives. After all, a motivated and engaged team isn’t just good for business—it fuels the heart and soul of what we do.
We know we don’t always get it right for everyone, and there’s always room to improve. But receiving positive feedback like this one from @Kununu.com reassures us that we’re on the right path. 🙌 It reminds us why investing in our people is the most important investment we can make. When our teams feel their best, our hotels deliver their best.

In our fourth feature on Celebrate Diversity Month, we're talking to Vaibhav Sanghvi, Group Head of Tax in Singapore.
🌟 What does diversity mean to you, Vaibhav?
Diversity to me simply means adapting to different cultures and learning from each other to better respond to different stakeholders.
🌟 Why do you think workplace diversity is good?
The ability to think and act effectively and appropriately in an intercultural context is essential for a collaborative workplace culture and to be a respectful world citizen. It’s important for employees working in global companies across multiple geographies to engage in intercultural learning, seek diverse perspectives and collaborate across teams to drive innovation and creativity. It also helps to attract top talent.
🌟 What do you like about Filtrona’s company culture?
Filtrona has been building a dynamic and diverse workforce with different skillsets that has helped the company to transform, innovate, and be resilient. I like the open and collaborative environment across different cultures where everyone trusts and respects each other, embodying the core values in the Filtrona Spirit.
Stay tuned for more editions of our #CelebrateDiversityMonth series coming soon!

Today is the start of #GoldenWeek in 🇯🇵, where a lot of people take the week off to rest, reflect and recuperate after the first 4 months of the year.
I found this lovely spot on a hike 🥾I did this morning near #zushi in Kanagawa, which is close to where I live. The trail was practically deserted, and I could enjoy the tranquility of bird song and the trickling stream. 🏞️
My thoughts were around #culture, and especially how important a strong culture is to an organization. It comprises of many facets, such as values, mission, communication style, leadership style, DEI, how things get done, and more. And ultimately, it’s the DNA 🧬of any organization, the lifeblood in a way. It shapes how we behave and conduct ourselves, as well as aligning those who work for that company so that they feel passionate and want to stay there. 🔥
I’ve worked for and partnered with a lot of companie in my lifetime, and considering my ruminations above, it’s surprising that in a lot of cases company culture has been weak. What I mean is that it hasn’t been ingrained, deep into the very fabric of the organization, and so what is said or advertised in company homepages or brochures isn’t actually practiced.
And you can see there is no loyalty from the people working there, that it’s more about looking after oneself and then moving on - get what you can, while you can. Then there are companies that actually walk the talk and where the atmosphere zings with a collective energy, of comradeship and momentum⚡️People are proud of who they work for and the company recognizes them for what they are and who they are.
To actually transform a company’s culture is difficult, but it’s something I would like to continue helping with as much as possible, as when it comes to impact, it can be absolutely massive‼️
It’s funny when your mind can wander in the serenity of nature, and where your thoughts can go 🏔️💭💡
