🚨 Excited to share our latest publication! 🫁🌐 Virtual lung screening trial (VLST): An in silico study inspired by the national lung screening trial for lung cancer detection 💡 Why it matters: The VLST aimed to demonstrate the potential of Virtual Imaging Trials (VITs) as a faster, safer, and more cost-effective alternative to traditional clinical trials. Results showed that CT outperformed CXR in detecting simulated cancerous lung nodules, aligning with findings from the NLST. The study highlights the promise of VITs in advancing medical imaging diagnostics by simulating key aspects of clinical trials in a controlled environment. 📖 Read the full article in Medical Image Analysis: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e5FmhEiF Resources: https://lnkd.in/dFRJfUud 📊 VLST highlights: 1️⃣  Virtual trials can replicate certain aspects of clinical trials effectively. 2️⃣ CT consistently outperforms CXR in lung cancer detection. 3️⃣ Virtual trials initiate the emulation of clinical trends, validating their relevance. 4️⃣ Provides insights by lesion type, reinforcing imaging technology evaluation. 5️⃣ Safe, cost-effective, scalable alternatives to traditional clinical trials. 🙏 It’s been a great team effort: Liesbeth Vancoillie, Cindy McCabe, Amareswararao Kavuri, Lavsen Dahal, Brian Harrawood, Milo Fryling, Mojtaba Zarei, Saman Sotoudeh Paima, Fong Chi (Ken) Ho, Dhrubajyoti G., Michael R. Harowicz, Tina D.
