Family involvement in the recovery process from addiction or a mental health condition can be highly beneficial. In addition to offering much-needed emotional support during the recovery process, engaging in family therapy can help improve communication between family members, strengthen relationships, and reduce conflict. While they may not fully understand addiction or mental illness, involvement in the recovery process can help family members learn more about these issues and better understand what their loved one is going through. They are often able to recognise when their loved one is struggling and may be able to identify triggers or warning signs of relapse, which can help keep their loved one on track with their recovery. By reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and mental illness and creating a more supportive and understanding environment for the person in recovery, and engaging the family to expand the support network and provide encouragement and support along the way, we lay the foundations for success for everyone. #familysupport #addiction #mentalhealth
