Another brick in the wall.... Strangely enough, I was listening to the Pink Floyd song of the same name on my way to site this morning. The section in the song with the psychotic teacher screaming "Wrong! Do it again!" on repeat, was a premonition of what was to come. Today's site provided a host of standard firestopping application penetrations which have, or are in the process of been sealed using the usual intumescent pipe collars, ablative batt, mastics, and..... aerosol propelled expanding polyurethane foam. The list of errors is quite alarming, but hardly unexpected when there's a range of mixed manufacturers products been used, and no standard details been followed. My mission now is to take everything back to scratch, and create a suite of cost-effective, easily installed installation details. There are some great products on the market, which can be retrospectively fitted to ensure the incorrectly sealed penetrations become compliant to a manufacturers tested detail. There's very limited time. There's little to no budget to remediate the current mess on site.
