No wonder why loyalty, mutual trust, and the very idea of watching each other’s (employees and business leaders) back in good times or bad are disappearing from American companies at an alarming rate. The “system” is rewarding one dimension of leadership disproportionately: short term performance that might not be sustainable over longer term but at the cost of all other dimensions of the business (the company culture, the people, the competitiveness of the products, and the reputation of the company to attract, motivate, and retain talents)!

More folks in the C-suite should watch this 5x before making a promotion choice. Leadership requires character. Character is what you can count on when times are challenging. Character is the difference between self-serving decisions or decisions made for the greater good. The greater good being that of those on your team and/ or the mission of the organization. In other words, character matters.
