A simple physics comparison: Kinetic energy of a 18,000 US ton freight train travelling at 55 mph (88 km/h) is ca. 4.89 * 10^9 J. A car weighing 2,500 lb travelling at the same speed has a kinetic energy of 3.39*10^5 J. The ratio is 10,000 to 1: car has no chance. It’s physics.
It can take a train traveling 55MPH a mile or more to come to a complete stop. Do not try to race the train over a grade crossing.

Remember the "TRUCKS on TRACKS" campaign? Sometimes TRACKS have to appear on TRUCKS for a while. Or rather, railway tank cars, without tracks. This is standard procedure when a wagon is going for tests. And as for the test - take care of yourselves, because the flu season is in full swing. #tirynatory #railway #railwaytankcar #chemet #cysterny #test

Did you know that under normal circumstances a passenger car travelling at 65 mph, or 104 kph, requires about 316 feet to stop, whereas a fully loaded semi-truck travelling at the same speed requires about 525 feet? Avoid cutting in front and help us keep the roads safe for everyone. #TransX #DeckX #TruckingMB #ProfessionalTrucking #TruckingSafety #SafetyFirst #RoadSafety
