He's worked under the sea and now works above it – this week's #MeetTheTeam introduces Billy McBain MCGI, IEng MIMarEST, part of ABL's highly experienced #riginspection team in Europe, based in Newcastle. With 25+ years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service, Billy brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to #safety and #engineeringexcellence in high-risk environments. At ABL, he leads inspection scopes across all rig types, including land rigs and 7th gen drillships, travelling to some of the world's most remote and exciting locations from Greenland to Malaysia🌍 What drives Billy❓ The challenge of every new project, the chance to work with different cultures, and the belief that respect and humility go a long way – no matter where you are. He highlights some challenges in the sector: 🗣️"The challenges in Rig Inspection and the wider Oil & Gas industry are huge, with ageing rigs, regulatory compliance, maintenance cutbacks, and job insecurity all playing a role. That's why, in my opinion, Rig Inspections are vital for mitigating risks around safety, non-productive time, and regulatory compliance." Check out the full interview to get to know Billy and his thoughts on what he'd change about the perception of the oil & gas industry ➡️https://lnkd.in/eDU-pbHK #EnergyandOceans #GlobalPartnerLocalExpert #ABLRigInspections
Having had the pleasure of working with Billy on some interesting and challenging rig inspection/selection jobs, I can vouch for his commitment and professionalism. I’m also fascinated to hear that Billy was a submariner and worked on nuclear submarines. He kept that quiet Ha! Ha! Billy’s a top man.
Thoughtful post, thanks
