Do you know the significance of June 5th??? Today marks an important occasion - WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY. As the largest international event led by the United Nations, it is a day dedicated to raising awareness about climate change. Over the past decade, we have witnessed the profound impact of our activities on the planet. We need to champion change within our various sectors; otherwise, we risk compromising the future for coming generations. This year's theme for World Environment Day is "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience". Let's take this opportunity to reflect on how we can contribute to these pressing issues and strive for a more sustainable world.

In the last week, I've had the opportunity to get outside and witness the natural beauty on offer at Glacier National Park and to join the rush of thousands of leading thinkers at New York Climate Week. It was inspiring to explore Glacier (while avoiding bears), but not without climate change hitting home in a tangible way far beyond my day job. The photo below shows one of the remaining glaciers in Glacier NP. Seeing the effects of climate change first-hand always adds tangible context to what we in the forest carbon markets strive to protect and, better, the forces we aim to reverse, every day. Fast forward to Sunday night, where I entered three frenetic days of conferences, meetings and discussions about #naturalclimatesolutions and #forestcarbon. I'll save the bullet point summary of key takeaways and focus on just one: it is clearer than ever that we need ambitious climate action now to address the most dramatic effects of climate change. We can't wait for perfect solutions - the very good has to be good enough for the near term, with an eye on continuous improvement. Companies in particular need to continue to aggressively reduce emissions, come off the sidelines, and invest in high-quality carbon projects and credits. Glacier is a clear reminder that we have no time to lose.

Leaving a MARK that GROWS We are taking urgent action to combat climate change. Trees not only absorb carbon dioxide, helping to reduce the greenhouse effect, but they also purify the air, and promote biodiversity. By planting trees, we contribute to cooler environments, healthier ecosystems, and a more sustainable future for generations to come. Together, we can combat climate change one tree at a time. Let’s plant today for a better tomorrow 🌲

🌊 Happy World Ocean Day! 🌊 As we celebrate the vast beauty and importance of our waters, we must also acknowledge the urgent need for action to protect it. The climate crisis presents one of the greatest threats ever to our blue planet and all its inhabitants. It's crystal clear: we need a healthy ocean for a healthy climate, and vice versa. That's why, now more than ever, we need stronger action from government and corporate leaders. The spotlight this year is on Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate which aligns with our daily work at the Waterfront Alliance. It's ambitious, but achievable, especially when we collaborate in transformative ways. Stay informed, stay engaged, and let's work towards One Ocean, One Climate, One Future – Together! 🌎💙

Happy World Environment Day everyone! And to celebrate, our new website 😀 Good news, our new website is up! - https://www.inverto.earth/ In some circles it can feel like everyone is prioritising the environment, but days like today are a good time to remember that it's not always the case. While governments and companies have made massive strides in the last 50 years thanks to growing social awareness and action, and we've managed to effectively solve some issues like CFCs and the hole in the ozone layer, the state of nature is worse today than it ever has been. Success stories for species recovery are few and far between, in an ocean of sad news of extinctions, expanding environmental degradation, and changing climate. These impacts are visible and changing our lives, and we all need to consider the environment more in our decisions. And not just "us", our audience, but your friends, family, local politicians, colleagues. Get the message outside of the bubble.

It is World Oceans Day! 🌊The United Nations has launched a new multi-year action theme: Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate. The ocean is incredibly important to all of us, the ocean is especially crucial for Northern Indigenous communities. Sea ice serves as a vital resource for hunting, gathering food, heating homes, visiting neighbouring communities, and engaging in cultural traditions. Climate change is drastically altering the ice season with warmer temperatures causing shorter seasons, more slush, and thinner, less predictable ice. This poses increased travel risks for northern communities. It is our responsibility to protect the marine environment, as it sustains and supports us in return.
