🦁 We bought a zoo! It sounds like an April Fool’s joke, but it’s true. In 1991, Electrolux Group acquired Hungarian appliance manufacturer Lehel — and with it, a fully operational zoo. While we didn’t stay in the zoo business for long, this quirky piece of company history lives on in Jászberény, Hungary. 🐾 From big cats to refrigerators, Lehel had it all. One of our first tasks? Naming a newborn tiger cub! 🐯 Today, the Jászberény Zoo continues to thrive as a conservation-focused wildlife park. Remember it like yesterday and all hungarian friends😀
Yes! It was an unusual (because of the zoo) but very successful acquisition. Electrolux will celebrate the 35 years anniversary of the acquisition next year. Unfortunately it will not be a very happy celebration. Electrolux has a very small activities this days and nobody knows the real end! But it is right the zoo is still in a successful operation. Nobody believed the zoo history will be longer than Electrolux one in Jászberény.
So cool 👏
The good old DD times...
Congratulations!
Such a heartwarming story! The Jászberény Zoo is still a great place to visit, and it’s amazing to think about its unique connection to Electrolux. Electrolux Group, thanks for sharing!
How wonderful is that! 😻
