The largest digital twin model I have created is a complete ammonia plant, including all its processes and utilities. The model is part of a larger web-based system for monitoring and optimization energy efficiency performance, equipment performance, and environmental impacts in the industry using digital twin technology and machine learning models. The importance of the digital twin lies in its ability to provide a comprehensive simulation of a real plant in software, enabling the extraction of data that is not directly measured, such as heat duties, efficiencies, temperatures, and flow rates. By conducting case studies and scenarios, the effects of changing operating variables or modifications, such as adding, removing, or replacing equipment, without applying them in real life. In addition, these simulation models are important for validating sensor readings (particularly flow rates that affect the plants' overall mass balance) and validating energy monitoring systems to ensure they are at peak efficiency and sustainability. #digitaltwin #simulation #industry
