Excited to share our latest publication! Our narrative review, "The Role of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Heart Failure," is live in Health Science Reports. #HeartFailure remains a significant global health challenge, and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (#CRT) is a game-changer in improving patients' quality of life and reducing mortality. This review delves into CRT's clinical efficacy, challenges, and future directions in advancing heart failure care. I’m grateful to my co-authors—Olivier UWISHEMA, Dalal Sheikhah, Burhan Kantawala, Misgana Gallo, Fatima Soufan, and Magda Wojtara—for their hard work and collaboration on this project. We hope this work contributes to meaningful discussions and innovations in cardiovascular care. Let’s keep pushing boundaries to improve patient outcomes worldwide. 🫁Respiratory Muscle Training (#RMT) is proving to be a powerful tool in the #recovery of post-#COVID-19 patients. 📚 A systematic review of recent studies (Xavier et al., 2024) shows that RMT significantly improves respiratory #strength, reduces #dyspnea, and enhances overall #qualityoflife 💪As we continue to support those recovering from COVID-19, integrating RMT into rehabilitation protocols could make a substantial difference in patient outcomes. For those in healthcare and rehabilitation, this is a promising area worth exploring further. Action Duchenne is excited to share the news that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued final draft guidance recommending Vamorolone for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). This positive decision offers a step forward in the management of DMD, expanding the range of treatment options available to patients and their families, a currently urgent unmet need. With the NICE’s approval, the NHS will now consider the recommendation and determine their next steps in this regulatory process to make Vamorolone accessible to eligible patients under the NHS in England. Cheers to PI Dr. Dany Jacob, Dana King, Eric Burgett, Hall Jamie, and the rest of the MICRO2 study team at Saint Luke's Health System on enrolling their first MICRO2 patient! Prior to the initiation of the MICRO2 trial, the recently published MICRO trial demonstrated CardioFlux MCG's ability to diagnose coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) in the space of a 90-second, no-contact scan - a first-of-its-kind exploration in what is now six decades of research into MCG. In contrast, the current gold standard for diagnosis is invasive coronary functional angiography, an option which remains practically out-of-reach for a majority of patients who likely suffer from CMD today. Worse still, clinician recognition of CMD and its impact on long-term outcomes remains low, perhaps due in part to the lack of simple, highly accessible options for diagnosis today. We’re excited to partner with clinicians, like Dr. Jacob and the rest of his team, who are actively working to address this unmet need! #MICRO2 #CardioFluxMCG #microvascular #CMD #myocardialischemia #INOCA

Women have long been underrepresented in clinical heart research — leading to gaps in detecting, treating, and setting standards of care for heart disease. Further, published data shows that women are up to 35% less likely than men to receive either of the available treatment options (TAVR and SAVR) to treat aortic stenosis.¹﹐² Earlier this month, we hosted a powerful roundtable discussion focused on reshaping the future of women’s heart health. We saw clinicians, patient advocates, and policy leaders all come together in one space to work towards the same goal - elevating the future of women’s health. This comes on the heels of #SMARTtrial data showing that Evolut™️ #TAVR delivers superior valve performance in women with a small annulus at 1 year versus SAPIEN™* platform.³ At Medtronic, we will continue helping empower and amplify the voices of women while driving awareness on women’s heart valve disease and #AorticStenosis. Huge thanks to WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, Women As One, https://bit.ly/4cmUTCG and The Atlantic for your commitment to women’s heart health and partnership for this event!
