It started with a simple question: “Did you know your car loses value after an accident, even if it’s fully repaired?” The response was always the same—confusion. Most people had no idea. Drivers, passengers, friends, family, Uber drivers, even the guy cutting their hair… no one had heard of diminished value. But here’s the truth: diminished value claims are a legal right in all 50 states. If someone hits your car, their insurance company owes you for the value your car loses because of its accident history. Yet billions of dollars go unclaimed every year because no one tells you about it—not even your own insurance company. That’s why DVHIVE exists. We’re here to pull back the curtain and make sure drivers get what they’re entitled to. It’s not just about fixing your car—it’s about fixing the financial loss you’re left with, too. Don’t let insurance companies quietly pocket what’s yours. Know your rights. Claim your value. We’ll show you how. 🚗💼 Call us today at +1 (888)597-3282 and let us help you get the compensation you deserve!

Let's say you get into a crash, and you find out that the other car does not have insurance. What do you do? It depends on where you live and what kinds of claims you have. 1) If there is property damage to your vehicle, and you have collision or comprehensive coverage, your car will be fixed, and you will only have to pay the deductible. 2) If you don't have collision coverage, you may be out of luck and have to pay for the repairs out of pocket. 3) If you are injured and covered by a New York policy, you carry mandatory Uninsured Motorist coverage with limits of at least $25,000.00. You should ALWAYS increase your UM limits to match your Bodily Injury limits when buying an insurance policy. That way, you cover yourself as much as you cover others. In NY, UM coverage is compulsory and included in every policy. 4) If you are covered by a PA policy, you may have UM coverage or you may not, depending on whether you purchased it with your policy. In PA, UM coverage is not compulsory, and you can waive it. We always advise our clients against waiving UM coverage in PA. You could save a couple hundred dollars and cost yourself thousands along the way. Need help after a crash? Call us today! (877) INJ-LWYR (465-5997) www.JohnLavelleLaw.com

There are times in life when we need to let someone borrow our car, but we hesitate to allow them to use it because we don't know if we can, or if we should. At the heart of it, we want to know, "If we give them permission and they get into an accident, is it covered by my insurance? Is it legal for someone to drive my car who is not on my insurance policy?" 💭"Generally, it's not a problem if they're driving with your consent," says Jeanne Salvatore, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and consumer spokesperson for the Insurance Information Institute. "If it's an occasional use, say I borrow your car to go pick up milk, and as long as permission has been verbally granted, you'll typically be covered." 🕵️♂️But borrowing a car under other circumstances may not be as clear-cut. It depends on your insurer and your policy. For example, coverage rules and regulations may be different if the driver lives in your household and could, or should, be listed as a named insured on your policy, but is not; or, if the driver is listed on your policy as excluded. Those more complicated situations would need to be discussed with your agent. Typically, even if the person driving your car has his or her own insurance, your insurance will be the primary payer for damages caused by your vehicle. Because the policy terms and state laws can vary widely, always contact your insurance agent before loaning out your car, or other motor vehicle. As with anything else, use good judgment and common sense. Make sure you are fully aware of the liability you may be opening yourself, and your auto policy, up to before handing over your keys. This is a must-read regarding uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
Don’t let this be you or your family. Today, I met with a 14 year old young man who lost an eye, broke both his legs, and has a deforming scar across his entire face. The driver that hit him is either uninsured or likely has the bare minimum insurance coverage. Sadly, the victim’s family didn’t purchase uninsured motorist coverage. This young man might not receive a penny. He will live the rest of his life with severe physical and psychological injuries with, at most, $25,000 compensation. In another case earlier this week, where my client has $300k in uninsured motorist coverage, and it cost them $1.07 per month. It’s the cheapest portion of your auto insurance. Personally, I carry $250k/500k on each of my vehicles. In Alabama, those coverages stack. If I’m involved in an accident, I can receive up to $750k (I have three vehicles) for my injuries on top of whatever the at-fault driver has. Call your agent immediately. I don’t want to be sitting in my conference room one day and have to tell you that your catastrophic injuries are only worth $25,000 because you were trying to save $5 per month on your auto policy.

CRASH! It's an inevitability when two or more vehicles occupy the same space at the same time. A very simple yet powerful concept passed down through my family for generations. Exactly 15 years ago, we bought our first car from Sytner Sheffield. We are still a loyal customer today and why we fully trust them to repair our existing car. Earlier this week, Joseph and his colleague were driving a Breezemount Home Delivery van down a 1 way street in Sheffield, in the left hand lane. They realised they were about to pass the road for their next delivery, so they abruptly veered across the right hand lane into their road and were able to make their delivery ☑️. Onto the next one right, there was probably a big list to get through! However in the process of veering across that right hand lane, their actions caused £1000's of damage to our car, including a large scrape down the middle of the side of their van. Despite clearly being at fault, they haven't accepted liability. They know that if they don't, their insurance probably won't have to incur the full costs. They are thinking purely financially. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. Fortunately my wife is ok. The NHS patients who had their clinic postponed, probably won't ever know the details of what happened but still have to live with the consequences. The additional hours my wife has had to work to make up, won't be known to anyone, but us. But that's ok, because this is purely a financial issue, right? It's also ok, because Breezemount Home Delivery met their customer needs and made their delivery. We all lived happily ever after, insurance companies pick up the pieces and it's just a mild inconvenience in the grand scheme. Or is it ok? I've since reflected on this, thinking about the next time when I'm impatient about getting another online order delivered quickly. You will never know the trail of destruction that may have been caused in the journey of that parcel! We don't need faster delivery services, we need stronger, more morally correct companies with a conscience, that take full responsibility for their actions at every stage of the customer journey, even when it's inconvenient to them or comes at a cost. Anything less, to put it bluntly, is immoral!
