The Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights hearing, "Big Fixes for Big Tech" is underway. Kamyl Bazbaz, SVP of Public Affairs, is testifying on DuckDuckGo's behalf. Here's what you need to know: 1) The question isn’t whether Google is a monopolist. In August 2024, a federal judge ruled that, in fact, it is. The question now is: what we do about it? 2) In American antitrust law, courts play a critical role, but Congress has a key role to play as well. Reigning in Big Tech’s abuses require overlapping and interlocking rules that allow for the freedom to innovate, the freedom to compete, and the freedom for Americans to pick the services they want to use.  3) With congressional action, the search market can rapidly become more competitive and serve consumers so much better than it does now.
