It’s not just about P. Diddy, or any other public figure it’s about POWER! The idea of celebrity is powerful, but what’s even more disturbing is the false hope it sells the idea that if you just play along go with the flow, if you cooperate and look the other way, you too might one day stand in that spotlight. It’s that promise of “maybe me is this is the sacrifice I make?” that keeps people complicit, just like we saw in the R. Kelly stories. People stayed silent, or worse, enabled the behavior, because they believed that proximity to fame and power might somehow elevate their own status. It's steep. People sacrifice morals, self-respect, and ultimately, our humanity, for a chance at something that was never guaranteed in the first place. It’s not just about P. Diddy, R. Kelly, or any other public figure it’s about power and how easily we can be seduced into abandoning what we know is right for the mere possibility of success. I’ve faced it myself not in Hollywood, but in life and corporate America. There were moments in my career where advancement and opportunities weren’t about my skill set, my hard work, or my talent, but about what I could offer someone in power in return and let me tell you it had nothing to do with a presentation or my expertise on the job. straight FACTS!! Being a young mom and being strapped supporting your children and putting food on the table. I was vurnable. I have been asked, cornered, pushed, set up, to sacrifice my own self worth for money, opportunity, promotions, when it’s not about what I can do, but what I’m willing to give for it and the power that others had over that. This isn’t just a celebrity problem it’s a power problem. it’s a toxic cycle where self-worth is the first casualty. And in the end, what are we left with? A version of ourselves we barely recognize because we abandoned ourselves and that leads to all other kinds of cycles of escaping yourself. I don’t talk much about the corporate part because I signed a release for a sum of cash that I needed at the time,in that case I did stick up for justice and that’s what matters.
