I've served on the board of Georgians for a Healthy Future for several years now. Too often, Georgia has policies in place that don't allow people to thrive, particularly if you are not wealthy. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐇𝐅'𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲? https://lnkd.in/e7rnN9PY With the gifts from last year’s Giving Day, GHF was able to: ✅ Support the passage of HB 404, the “Safe at Home Act.” This bill establishes basic protections for Georgia renters like ensuring rental units are fit for human habitation and limiting security deposits to no more than two months’ rent. ✅ Protect Georgia’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit from being cut in half by state legislators. ✅ Build support for increasing healthy, accessible housing for people with disabilities by sharing and presenting our Realizing the Promise of Olmstead report. We are counting on 𝟖𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 to make a gift in support of our Housing is Health initiative. Your gifts will kickstart the next phase of our work, which will include: ⭕ Build support among state leaders to fully fund the Georgia Housing Voucher Program! This program ensures that Georgians with mental illness have stable, affordable housing that helps keep them healthy and out of crisis. ⭕ Set up a working group that brings together people with disabilities, caregivers, housing experts, advocates, and Georgia’s state agencies overseeing health and housing to examine and promote ways to improve and expand housing for people with disabilities. ⭕ Bring together housing and health advocates to identify opportunities for collaborations that will improve health and housing at the same time! They have experienced an 80% increase in food bank use over the last five years. 2. The biggest increase in users has been among working families and single-parent households. 3. Did you know that a donation to the food bank can stretch your dollar 3.5 to 4 times its value?

WE ARE NOW LIVE! Every donation is now being DOUBLED while match funds last. Joyce, a mother of two, used to worry everyday about how she would feed her children the healthy food they needed. She told us recently that thanks to Rose Vouchers she can buy them the fruit and veg they need to grow into healthy adults. "For people on a low income, Rose Vouchers mean you can still feed your kids. It’s a lifeline. I can make whole meals out of Rose Vouchers. I like that they give me enough for my family. Sometimes I have some food leftover to save for the next week. We’re so grateful.” Through the Rose Vouchers for Fruit and Veg project, we don’t just help families to eat, we help them eat well. The benefits are clear, and practical: 🍇 Families’ fruit and veg intake improves by an average of 3 portions a day. 🍋 55% of parents now eat at least 5 portions of fruit & veg a day, up from 15%. 🍎 64% of children now eat at least 5 portions of fruit & veg a day, up from 7%. In the last 12 months, we’ve supported 4,136 families, including over 6,204 children, to buy healthy fresh fruit and veg and avoid food poverty with over £900,000 in Rose Vouchers. That’s a 39% year-on-year increase which we’ve been able to provide thanks to your generosity. But the need is still growing. Despite falling inflation, prices remain stubbornly high, and more people in the UK are experiencing food poverty. Families constantly tell us they simply cannot afford enough fresh fruit and veg for their children to thrive. Our Champions for Children fundraiser is crucial. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups.
