The Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation released its FY23 Defense Spending by State report yesterday to help states and communities better understand how defense procurement, personnel spending, and grants impact their economies: https://lnkd.in/e4aJy2pk   “Our National Defense Industrial Strategy makes clear that a robust and resilient industrial base provides the enduring foundation for military advantage,” said Dr. William LaPlante, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. “Businesses small and large across America are the heart of our industrial might, and this report is a tremendous resource that our state and local partners can use to better understand defense spending in their areas and strengthen supply chains.”   The report provides public and private leaders with a starting place to assess how defense investments across installations, communities, and the private sector can be optimized by supporting regional innovation, industrial capability and capacity, supply chain resilience, and cultivating a skilled workforce.   Read more below, or on the OLDCC website at https://oldcc.gov.   #SucceedThroughTeamwork #ExpandTheBase

The release of the FY25 US defense budget has highlighted significant opportunities available to contractors via the operations and maintenance spend, a budget category expected to grow 9% through FY29. While sustainment has historically been viewed by some as an afterthought, the rapidly growing costs of F-35 sustainment and the resurgence of performance-based logistics have highlighted the significant opportunity available to contractors – but only if they can execute complex sustainment programs to deliver against services’ mission capability rates.
