Bezos Family Pledges Up to $500M to UNICEF’s Child Nutrition Fund, Launching Global Match-Funding Drive 👉 Bezos Family Foundation has announced an unprecedented up to $500 million matching commitment to UNICEF USA for the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF). 👉 This historic pledge was revealed at the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris, aiming to catalyze contributions from individuals, philanthropies, and governments. 👉 The CNF was launched in 2023 by UNICEF, in collaboration with partners including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and the UK Government, with a goal of raising $2 billion by 2030. 👉 The CNF supports high-impact, evidence-based nutrition programs for women and children, targeting challenges such as wasting, stunting, and anemia in high-need countries. 👉 It aims to reach 320 million children and women annually, offering both preventive and treatment-based solutions for undernutrition. 👉 The World Bank estimates a need for $13 billion annually from 2025–2034 to scale global nutrition efforts. 👉 Undernutrition remains a critical issue, contributing to nearly half of all deaths in children under 5, with 148 million children stunted and 45 million suffering from wasting. 👉 Mike Bezos emphasized the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child's life and called for collective global action: “We will match each dollar donated to the CNF up to $500 million.” 👉 Catherine Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF, hailed the pledge as “a powerful rallying call” to save lives and urged the global community to join the effort.
