At work, logged on to the college site through the personal computer which I keep at the office, and received the pdf certification via college email, associates degree is still processing. Hard Copies will be mailed in a few months. What a ride that was, Mondays through Sunday Evenings. Qty 4 courses in the first semester ending 12.18.23. Qty 5 courses the second semester with a hyper accelerated psychology course starting 1.8.24 (12 assignments due every week each assignment 2-6 hours just in Psychology alone). College really shows you how to prepare, schedule, study and execute. Can't wait to begin Business courses in 2025 🙏 to improve career and help work team/family grow. "Decisiveness is not arrogance. Self-management skills correlate with college students who have a strong sense of purpose. Good news because we can teach self-management skills and potentially nudge students toward finding their purpose. The need for schools to teach social skills to every student is more apparent than ever today! Research study conducted by Harvard University in conjunction with the Carnegie Foundation and Stanford Research Center found that 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft (not a positive term in my opinion) and people skills, and only 15% of job success comes from technicl skills and hard skills. Let's face it, you won't get far if you can't work well with others! David Brooks book: "How to know People" and Jonathan Haidt's book "The Anxious Generation" point this fact out!

Today's who would've thunk it? Maturity is realizing you know less than you think. I have always believed there's something to learn from everyone, regardless of their age or background. This has helped me focus on and observe things more deeply, and has greatly enhanced my understanding of human psychology. In every conversation I listen to or participate in, I ask myself a few questions to decode: 1)Why did they respond in such a way? 2)What could have been some other possible responses? 3)What would I have responded if I were in their position? However, despite this, we often start thinking we're better than others, and I feel that's the point where learning stops. And that's why you need to read the first line again. Thoughts?

Group Assignments at University: A Stressful Task 😅 As a Level 5 Sport and Exercise Psychology student I have recently experienced working as a group to complete an assignment.Group assignments are a key part of our academic journey, but they often come with their own set of challenges. Relying on others can sometimes feel like a gamble—whether it’s differing work ethics, varying levels of commitment, or communication issues, there are many potential obstacles that can arise when you're depending on teammates. However, these challenges also offer valuable learning experiences. In the real world of sport and exercise psychology, collaboration is essential. Working in groups allows us to develop crucial skills like teamwork, conflict resolution, and leadership. We learn how to leverage diverse perspectives, combine strengths, and work towards a shared goal—skills that are critical when working in multidisciplinary teams in the future, whether in clinical settings, sports teams, or wellness programs. Despite the hurdles, group assignments prepare us for the collaborative nature of our future careers. The ability to manage group dynamics, delegate tasks, and support one another's strengths and weaknesses is something that will directly translate into success in the field of sport and exercise psychology. My recent experience wasn't too great and very stressful 😅 but I completely understand the benefits that this will give me in the future. This past month, I had the incredible opportunity to attend a session with Dr. Robert Short, hosted by the Psychology Engagement Team Club at ASU. It was a truly enriching experience that highlighted how psychology can be applied in real-world settings. The session was intimate and interactive, fostering a welcoming environment for students from all levels of interest and expertise. Dr. Short’s approachable demeanor made it easy for everyone to engage, share thoughts, and ask questions. I especially appreciated how he seamlessly blended theoretical concepts with stories from his professional career, illustrating how psychology plays a pivotal role in everyday life. One of the best parts of the event was connecting with fellow students who shared their perspectives on balancing schoolwork and their aspirations in the field of psychology. Networking with peers and hearing their journeys reminded me of the value of building relationships and exchanging ideas. After the session, I had the chance to sit down with Dr. Short for coffee and a deeper conversation. His insights into career development and practical advice were both inspiring and incredibly helpful for the future. Moments like these reinforce the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones and seeking opportunities to learn from experienced professionals. The Psychology Engagement Team Club deserves recognition for creating such an inviting space for learning and collaboration. It’s clear they are passionate about their mission to connect students and promote meaningful discussions about psychology. While I’m exploring other clubs and opportunities on campus, this experience has reaffirmed the importance of getting involved and trying new things.
