#ICYMI: To make sure the military force structure is lean, mean and prepared to win, the DOD is reimplementing the deferred resignation program, offering voluntary early retirement to eligible civilians and asking leadership to provide organizational charts of their departments for potential consolidation.
Congrats!
Best of luck
Can we get a waiver for the VERA 25 year service requirement? I understand it looks like they're limited to current FY restraints. Extending the separation deadline beyond 30 Sep 2025 will put you in a new FY. However, if you allow a waiver, say 1-3years, you'll likely get more VERA volunteers that didn't make the VERA cutoff for this FY. For example, by Sep 30, I'll have 24 years and 6 months, so I'm not eligible. But if there was a 1-year waiver for the 25 year service requirement, I'd sign up today.
Well done!
It’s about time, the federal government has become an employment agency.
Make it based on what the Department needs, top down. Then clean up whatever is left over as chaff. The assumption here is that everything is chaff, figure it out. Not smart business. No cost-benefit analysis of second/third order effects. You will just hire back what you needlessly cut. Just like you've been doing. Makes you look sloppy.
Hegseth and his clown army are ruining 'merica! Fire yourselves!
Cheering you on! Excellent performance and progress.
Consolidate all of the military services JAG Corps (it layers of GO/SES and separate military law schools), refocus the JAG mission (good order and discipline can be managed administratively through non judicial punishment and administrative separations turning prosecution for serious crime to local prosecutors and US Attys -like many of our Allies; -the UCMJ and MCM are a political charade and likely unconstitutional in part), and focus military lawyers on Command READINESS (armed conflicts, natl security law, security coop-before/after (not during) conflicts—the “gray areas.” Value-added to warfighters! What if you’re literally days away from receiving a processed military buyback package that’s been in the works for more than a year; can you still take VERA? I get that you can’t apply for buyback when taking VERA but the package is already in its final stages. What’s the real cutoff for the buyback with VERA, next week or September? Trying to make informed decisions.
