Department of Transport and Planning’s Post

We're introducing the Great Design Fast Track – a new streamlined planning pathway that rewards well-designed, sustainable housing in Victoria. What does this mean? ✅ Faster planning approvals for high-quality townhouse and apartment developments (8+ dwellings, 2 – 8 storeys)   ✅ Encouraging better design and sustainability in our communities   ✅ Qualifying assessments by the Office of the Victorian Government Architect (OVGA) This initiative helps streamline the approval for well-designed homes, to meet the needs of Victorians. Have a favourite building that showcases great design? Nominate it for the state design book – a collection of top projects to inspire Victoria’s future housing. Love this, just what we need - well-designed homes in good locations - not one at the expense of the other

Thanks Meagan for sharing this. We shall get organised and deliver fast.

Does it also mean more housing flowing into investment portfolios instead of being made available to those who need places to live? Because it’s a hollow exercise if new housing gets land banked.

Great move towards rewarding sustainable design! A win for quality housing and community livability.
