Today marks a significant milestone in Arturia's history. It's been a journey filled with challenging R&D, market analysis, brainstorming sessions, moments of uncertainty, stubborn perseverance, and unwavering dedication to the needs of keyboardists. Today we release AstroLab, a stage keyboard that I personally consider nothing short of revolutionary. AstroLab embodies elegance and excellence in both design and performance. Its captivating aesthetics are matched only by its exceptional sound quality. Its remarkably intuitive interface empowers keyboardists to express themselves with confidence and ease. It's simple but not simplistic. From a technological standpoint, it's an extremely innovative instrument...but the very major innovation it brings is, in my opinion, on the user experience. Back in the days, before I joined Arturia, I was composing my own songs and trying to play them with my band "Epines". In my home studio, I was using the Arturia plugins but I didn't want to take a computer on stage...it meant that all sound design had to be redone for live. I had let some freedom to the keyboardist and it was creating some artistic tensions. Finally, I ended up purchasing a computer exclusively for music use and kept dreaming of a solution to seamlessly go from studio to rehearsal and stage. 16 years later, AstroLab is the instrument that would have solved my problem! In 2012, we, Arturia, were working on the Wurlitzer V, our first instrument using physical modelling. I was still new at Arturia and got surprised when I heard we were not expecting outstanding sales with it. I asked why and got answered that there were already a lot of competition on the market...but that one day we will probably create a hardware keyboard onboarding our software instruments and that we needed the best electric piano sounds! Come on, that was 12 years ago! AstroLab is a vision followed by the collective effort of every individual at Arturia, spanning across all departments – from quality assurance to product management, software, firmware, strategy, HR, logistics, electronics, marketing...even accounting now! And since I'm in the sales department: big up to my fellow colleagues and distributors. How many meetings, passionate discussions, keynotes, negotiations did we have about AstroLab? Yes, it's been a long and exciting journey...and you know what? Today is only the beginning.

Why do I love this game so much? It's because it combines my love of gaming with my love of IP. Although on the surface this game looks like it is just another cute platformer, it's not. This game is actually an IP showcase. The concept is that Astro, and his bot friends, are living inside of the PS5 and your controller. You can hear and feel Astro inside your controller so realistically that it feels certain you would see him if you opened it up and took a peek inside. The entire game is designed to show off just what the patented technology within the PS5 and the PS5 controller can do, and it does it so well that nearly four years on I have not yet encountered another game which makes use of the functionality nearly half as well. But this game is not just about showing off the patents. The game showcases 25 years of trade marks, designs and copyright material in a way that's genius. Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team ASOBI have developed a game that sends you hunting to collect nearly three decades worth of iconic playstation hardware and allows you to explore the designs and history of those devices up close. But that's only half the fun, most of my time in this game has been spent searching the levels with my husband and identifying the vast number of bots in fancy dress acting out iconic Playstation games whilst simultaneously taking delight in the subtle way trademarks are embedded into the world (making the flowers out of the play station symbol is definitely my favourite!) The game is clearly a passion project, many think it is simply fan service and I have seen commentary online referring to it as a nostaliga fest. I think it is so much more than this. The second Astrobot game has only been out for two days, but rumour has it that it's already the highest rated game of 2024. For me, the popularity of these games is a demonstration of the power of IP and Sony's ability to leverage a portfolio consisting of all different types of IP and licenced third party IP to create a masterpiece and remind players why it is a powerhouse of gaming.
