Slotting in slow-mo. Here we are cutting a keyway. One benefit of slotting is that the method can be used on a variety of different material types, both hard and soft. The slotter is used for cutting keyways on pulleys, couplings, sprockets and unique components. It's also ideal for cutting keyways in blind holes. #DCLEngineering #MechanicalEngineering #Keyway #Slotter #Slotting

When i worked at BM machine in Taunton we had a big slotter.... it was so old it was reported to have been moved to Taunton from Bridgwater on a cart being pulled by 4 horses.!!!! It still worked and was very accurate. One thing i did see was a guy using it and got out of sync with dabbing the oil with a brush and the movement of the ram and he had his finger dragged into the bore......... he was lucky it was a nasty injury but kept his finger.

Used to hate that but learned to love it or rather make peace with it because we had a lot of couplings and pulleys to do. I ended up being a pro, taught by youtube to being the best.
