🦃 In the United States, many of us are preparing for the big Thanksgiving Day feast. It is one of my favorite holidays. I make the turkey, stuffing and apple pie to take to my nephew's house each year. When people hear that I make all of that they say, "Why don't you just host it?" Well, it has become family tradition that I make those items. 👨👩👦👦 I've become known for the turkey because of the gravy it makes due to the white wine, shallots and dried dates (prunes). The family calls it "crack gravy" because once you have it you can't have another. 🧑🍳 I found the recipe years ago in a Food Network magazine featuring Rachel Ray. Another tradition is my 🍎Paper Bag Apple Pie🥧. Yes, it is actually cooked in a paper bag! Last year, I did try using brown craft paper (not advised). It caused a bit of a fire 🔥 in the oven, but we managed to save the pie. I make the pie at home and transport it. We put it in the oven when we sit down for dinner and it cooks while we eat and then are able to serve warm apple pie🥧with ice cream for dessert. I'm curious: 🦃 What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions or food? 🥧 What's your favorite pie or dessert for Thanksgiving? 🗒 Any recipes you'd like to share? 🤔(share in comments) 📸: My Thanksgiving turkey from last year #Thanksgiving #TurkeyDay #FamilyTraditions #Foodie #HomeCooking #ThanksgivingRecipes #GratefulHeart #FamilyTime #CookingWithLove #ThanksgivingPrep
Although our Canadian thanksgiving happened a few weeks ago, I’m still very curious about this paper bag apple pie 👀 happy thanksgiving Dawn!
Looks and sounds delicious! Our tradition is to brine the turkey the night before. Makes the meat so tender it falls off the bones. As for dessert, I’m team Pumpkin Pie. Love it so much I could have it year-round 😍
Looks amazing! Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful! Our go-to pie is a homemade deep dish crust and a can of Libby's pumpkin pie mix prepared according to the instructions, but with a little less sugar and instead of evaporated milk substituting melted Ben and Jerry's vanilla ice cream.
Happy Thanksgiving Dawn Poteau, PCC, PMP, SHRM-SCP, I am so grateful for your friendship ❤️
Great tradition and sounds so yummy!
Wow that looks like a piece of art Dawn Poteau, PCC, PMP, SHRM-SCP! I have yet to cook a turkey. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is my family goes to the Detroit parade and then some head to the Lions game. My favorite pie is absolutely pumpkin pie!
I’m Team Apple Pie for Thanksgiving…or any time really 😂 My husband and I go to family for Thanksgiving but I always get our own turkey from a local farm and smoke it on the Big Green Egg when we get back from the holidays. And I use the spatchcock method…I do this with chicken and turkey.
It looks delicious Dawn Poteau, PCC, PMP, SHRM-SCP! 😍 We don't have a celebration like this in Brazil... I'm so grateful for my American family who introduced me to these special traditions. 🧡🦃 Happy Thanksgiving!
