Heading into the weekend, I finally had time to reflect on my experience in Las Vegas for Black Hat . Arriving days before the show, I was first able to spend some time in nature to prepare myself for the chaotic days to follow. Scrambling around The Strip going from one meeting to the next, it isn’t lost on me the amazing community we have. I spent time with our advisors Rinki Sethi, Lucas Moody, and Chris Roberts, introduced security leaders to Onyxia, and bumped into old friends in the lobbies of hotels. Hearing the buzz from the show, we received incredible feedback that what we are building is exactly what is needed for this moment and the future success of the CISO role. The AI Revolution is Here - I recently wrote about AI adoption and how it can be leveraged to combat the evolving threats organizations face. AI can help cyber defense in so many ways, and we can all benefit from implementing it. CISOs shouldn't do it Alone…but they definitely lead the way. Gaining buy-in from all departments and teams is as important as having a holistic view of your security program. Sharing your vision and program story helps additional stakeholders understand the reasoning behind your initiatives. Regulations and Resilience - Global regulations are getting stricter, putting CISOs in the spotlight and emphasizing the need to have ready access to their program data and metrics to show the performance of their efforts. I want to thank C-Vision International and The CISO Society for putting on such a great event. We were proud to be among the handful of sponsors. It was my privilege to moderate with some of the brightest minds in cybersecurity at the 13th Annual SINET New York Summit today. Some great zingers, for “what not do do” specifically startups need to stop saying they’re a Single Pane of Glass solution - all credibility is lost on this phrase. Also, a prediction that much more consolidation will occur in the cybersecurity sector, but there are “thermal waves” of new use cases, even in current cyber sectors that will always drive the need for new startups and innovation. #BlackHat was a blast! I set out to see my friends and see the future, and I exceeded my expectations. First off, what an amazing community we have at the conference. Countless cybersecurity professionals focused on making the world a better place. This remains my favorite cybersecurity conference. Second, a big thank you to my amazing friends, new and old, for meeting with me. I truly enjoyed our enlightening conversations about cyber, work, and life. It was great geeking out with some luminaries in the field. Also, shoutout to OODA LLC for building a great community and making it work for our members! Check it out, maybe even join? Third, I believe AI will revolutionize our field, but the innovation isn't entirely focused on solving real problems yet.
