Practicing Yoga is about the postures of our minds not merely the postures of our bodies. We have power and agency over our own nervous systems and thought processes. A regulated nervous system invites and assists in the regulation of other's nervous systems and this impacts the quality of our thoughts and ability to move intelligently through whatever is happening on our collective lives. This is why practice Yoga.
With each election cycle in the United States, we’re thrust into the unknown. And, no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, one truth remains: the world needs more yoga. More yoga means: + More health in all ways—physical, emotional, mental, social, and biological + More community and connection + More self-reflection and self-understanding Through all of this, we are collectively more capable of: + Creating true equity in more spaces, including those of yoga and wellness + Showing up with more empathy, understanding, and patience in our relationships + Strengthening the endurance needed to fight systems of oppression + Remaining present, intentional, and joyful in our lives This is Yoga Alliance’s “why” – the driving force behind our mission to advocate for yoga in its wholeness—and for every human being in theirs. In the days, weeks, and months ahead, continue to embrace your yoga practice, however it unfolds. More yoga, better world.
