We are heartened to hear the new Government's commitment to halve Violence Against and Women and Girls in the King's Speech yesterday. Our CEO Cherryl Henry-Leach responds to Labour's statement with a call for a whole system approach to effectively create positive change, including: - A clear delivery plan that keeps the safety of victims and survivors central to its development. - Investment in the sector so that vital support provided by specialist organisations is sustained. - Access to Justice will not re-traumatise victim-survivors and they experience trauma-informed support at every stage from disclosure - Improvements to the NHS include a Coordinated Community Response to health and domestic abuse. - Expectation that all education settings respond appropriately to domestic abuse and actively promote and teach healthy relationships. - Reduce homelessness, recognising domestic abuse as a lead cause, whilst protecting survivors and guaranteeing victims' rights. This is a powerful story @Julien Andre and needs to be heard. Ted talk link here https://lnkd.in/e9hvxXKK
Chair at Inspire 2 Ignite CIC | Green Jobs Foundation | St Neots Initiative | Champion for Future Talent and Community Empowerment
Had the privilege of meeting Julien Andre yesterday, after being inspired by his Ted talk about the idea that the boarding school model could be the answer for housing and educating our most vulnerable. Average boarding school cost £25,000 vs prison cost £50,000 Care experienced children who were on the Springboard programme, 98% left with 2 or more A levels, compared to 12% for those disadvantaged. I would encourage you to watch his Ted talk and my gift to Julien was to make him aware of what Marksteen Adamson is building with the Phoenix Village Project as something I believe comes closest to what he described in his Ted talk. Full TED talk here - https://lnkd.in/eWNJEqgC Look forward to seeing you again soon Julien, good luck with you exams the next few months! #careexperienced #innovation #housing

Social justice requires that all communities be safe, respected, and treated equitably. Safety is a fundamental human right, and no community can truly thrive without it. Ensuring the safety of all communities means addressing systemic inequalities and providing equal protection under the law. Equality in Protection: All communities must have equal access to law enforcement and justice. This means eliminating racial profiling, bias, and discrimination in policing and the judicial system. When every community is protected fairly, trust in these institutions can be restored and strengthened. Addressing Root Causes: Safety involves more than just protection from crime. It requires addressing the root causes of violence and insecurity, such as poverty, lack of education, inadequate healthcare, and housing instability. By tackling these issues, we create safer environments for everyone. Inclusive Policies: Social justice demands that policies be inclusive and consider the unique needs of diverse communities. This includes creating and enforcing laws that protect marginalized groups from hate crimes, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. Community Empowerment: Empowering communities through education, economic opportunities, and social services ensures that people have the resources they need to feel secure. Cultural Sensitivity and Respect: Recognizing and respecting the cultural practices and identities of all communities is essential for creating a safe and inclusive society. Collaboration and Solidarity: Achieving social justice requires collaboration and solidarity among all communities. Text "Give Native" to 44-321 to support awareness initiatives like this. Your contribution aids the #NotOurNativeDaughters technical training program, helping to spread our message of justice and equality. Every bit of support helps us grow and share our mission. In England, around 17.3% of children are recognised as having special educational needs & disabilities (SEND). Many families already save for their children’s future through products such as Child Trust Funds or Junior ISAs. However, a significant challenge arises if, at 18, these children lack the mental capacity to manage the funds themselves, leaving them inaccessible. A Disabled Persons Trust solves this problem, as it is the Trustees rather than the beneficiaries who have control. Read more about specialised financial planning that can make all the difference to the families of SEND children: https://lnkd.in/ey8AsnTZ #send #trust #specialised #financialplanning #family #SENDchild

"As we actively celebrate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all humanitarian aid organizations, Civil Society Organizations, and individuals who are passionately fighting against all forms of GBV. Your tireless efforts in awareness raising, advocacy, capacity building, medical response, and economic empowerment are truly commendable. You are the unsung heroes who brave the odds to support survivors of GBV. Thank you for your remarkable resilience. As we continue to fight against GBV, I have been reflecting on the critical role of positive intentional parenting and child upbringing in curbing all forms of GBV in society. Parents are the first point of contact for these young minds, and we are their first role models. We have the opportunity to model positive values such as love, respect, and empathy to our children. Conversely, we can also inadvertently model violence and negative behaviors. As we strive to create a society free from GBV, let us be intentional about instilling positive values in our children. By doing so, we can empower future generations to become agents of change and promote a culture of respect, empathy, and non-violence. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all." #Writer #SpokenWordArtist #Poet #TheVoiceOfSolace #YouthActivitist #IntentionalAboutYouths

Our Third Sector is at Breaking Point 🚨 Cuts, inequity, and constant struggles to fairly treat our staff - this is sadly the reality for third sector organisations like ours delivering essential services. As our CEO Billy Alexander shares his thoughts on Anna Fowlie of SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations) new blog, it's clear we can’t keep rearranging deck chairs on a sinking ship. https://lnkd.in/eEnMB6-w It’s time for real change and the third sector needs to be treated fairly and have the resources to serve our communities effectively. Government must rethink their approach before it’s too late. #FairFunding #ThirdSector #VoluntarySector #CommunitySupport #GovernmentAction #EqualResources #SupportNonprofits #CrisisPoint #ActionNow https://lnkd.in/eSxTwDk8
