Partnership for Student Success is proud to share the National Partnership for Student Success’ 2022-2025 Impact Report, documenting the progress made through the NPSS public-private partnership between AmeriCorps, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Everyone Graduates Center, Johns Hopkins University. From July 2022 through mid-January 2025 the NPSS worked to help implement and scale tutoring, mentoring, and other evidence-based services to students in the wake of the pandemic. It may be #backtoschool season, but we know preparing for #summerlearning begins now! Led by the nonprofit FHI 360, the Wallace-funded DSLN has helped more than 100 districts across six states design, carry out, and sustain high-quality, evidence-based summer learning programs that prepare students for academic success and support their well-being. A research team at NYU Metro Center is studying the effort. The team is producing a series of “Summer Snapshots” to highlight how districts across the country are reimagining what a summer program can be. This first summer snapshot focuses on high school students faced with making up class credits over the summer. It examines how two school districts, Manchester Public School District, in Connecticut, and Oakland Unified School District, in California, have reinvented their programs to take a more holistic approach to academics and enrichment over the summer. They are moving beyond credit makeup to accelerate learning and better prepare students for the upcoming year. Did you know high school students in BC can take post-secondary courses and programs for free? One of the most significant barriers for students to transition to the work world is a lack of exposure to a wide range of jobs and understanding how an education journey will lead them to purposeful work. In response, our province has developed a dual credit model in which students from Grades 10-12 can take university and college courses, programs, and trades training while earning high school credits. In our school district last year, over 470 students completed courses and trades programs, with 84% receiving a grade of over 70%. Students of all socio-economic backgrounds have equal access to post-secondary education at a time when mentorship and personalized supports are paramount.
