🚗 Driving Safety on Regional Roads: Tips 🛣️ Navigating regional roads can be an adventure but comes with unique challenges. Our team recently had an unforgettable encounter with a wombat during our trip to Shoalhaven, highlighting the importance of wildlife awareness on regional roads. Here are some essential tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey: 1. Gravel Roads: Keep a steady pace and avoid sudden manoeuvres on gravel roads to maintain control of your vehicle. Reduce your speed to adjust for the loose surface and be mindful of potential hazards. 2. Wildlife Awareness 🦘: Kangaroos, wombats, and other wildlife are familiar sights on regional roads. Stay vigilant, especially during dawn and dusk when animals are most active. Use your high beams at night to spot wildlife early and reduce your speed to avoid collisions. 3. High Beam Courtesy: When approaching oncoming vehicles, be courteous with your high beam headlights. Dim them to avoid blinding other drivers and ensure clear visibility for everyone on the road. 4. Take Regular Breaks 🥱 : Long drives on regional roads can be tiring. Take regular breaks to rest, stretch your legs, and refresh yourself. Fatigue is a significant factor in road accidents, so prioritise your well-being during your journey. Remember, safety should always be the top priority on the road. By staying alert, adapting to road conditions, being courteous with high beams, and taking necessary breaks, you can make your regional road trip a safe and enjoyable experience! #NationalRoadSafetyWeek #DrivingSafety #RegionalRoads #CrossleyTP

Do you want your firm or organization to truly stand out? Hire a content creator/writer who can do something different instead of the same old tired posts. They don’t have to be funny. But they should make a lasting impression and engage the audience from the first sentence. Using a question helps! For example, instead of “Congratulations to our newly certified professional engineers!” Try something different. Ask a question. Engage. “Who is meticulous, great at math, and has the patience to take an incredibly long and ardorous multiple choice exam? A newly certified professional engineer that’s who! Congratulations…insert names” Not my finest work, but you get the point. You just have to create a memorable experience. The English language has so many words and style elements with unique shades that we can use to persuade, inform, and engage audiences. Don’t lean on the same old tired business cliches and jargon posts. Instead, follow the NPS where no campaign has gone before—bravely into a new and fascinating world, where we actually enjoy receiving information!
In da jam, we all fam’. We all fam’, but we’re also not all fam’. Know what we’re saying? Bison and other wildlife on roads may look fam shaped, but they aren’t looking to join your clurb anytime soon. Please drive carefully and keep your eyes on the road. Remember to follow speed limits and stay in your car if you find yourself in a (wildlife) jam. In essence, slow down and enjoy the view! <three hours later> You’re still there? Umm, well, they’ll move when ready. Image: A herd of bison surrounding a vehicle on a Yellowstone road. NPS/Frank #trafficjam #nationalparks #bison #yellowstone #travel #roadsafety

Today marks the day, the NSW Governemnt temporarily removes shark nets from its waters for the majority of the whale migration period (May-September). In all aspects of our lives, we expect and demand that safety standards are modernised, and evidence based. Yet, for more than 80 years, successive NSW governments have utilised shark nets at beaches, fishing nets of 150m long that sharks can easily swim under and around. Shark nets are also used in Queensland all year round, unlike in NSW where they remove them for the majority of the whale migration season. In either case, there is an inordinate amount of iconic wildlife caught up and killed in these nets that ironically act as bait, bringing sharks closer to the shore when they otherwise wouldn’t have. Shark nets are redundant when the NSW government already has modern, evidence-based solutions that have been utilised for around a decade now. Drones and the tagging and tracking of sharks inform beach goers in real-time of risks and vastly improves safety outcomes for humans and wildlife alike. The NSW government now has the golden opportunity to retire the nets for good, and fully modernise beach safety for all.

Join the #seaworldfoundation @ Village Roadshow Theme Parks @ Sea World Foundation team as they partner with @QPWS rangers to successfully refloat a 10-metre humpback whale following a mammoth two-day operation off the coast of Hervey Bay. The humpback whale stranded on the Dayman spit sandbank in the Great Sandy Marine Park on Sunday afternoon, and QPWS Rangers assessed the whale finding it to be in good condition but unable to free itself from the sand. Over the next two days, QPWS and Sea World crews continued to assess the animal and provide first-aid with the hopes the whale would free itself once the water was deep enough. With the whale not freeing itself overnight, a plan was implemented to refloat the whale using specialised towing equipment including slings on the high tide on Tuesday afternoon. These plans were altered after a sighting of 3-metre tiger shark, with the teams now working from the boats to deploy the slings, with this activity seemingly encouraging the whale to gather enough momentum to move off the sandbank into deeper waters. These rescue operations are logistically challenging, and between our team and the QPWS rangers we had four vessels working around the whale with a team of 20 using specialised equipment and it was fantastic to see this animal swim off to continue its migration. Whale rescue operations are extremely dangerous and should only be undertaken by trained professionals, so we encourage anyone who may come across a whale in distress to call our dedicated team who are on standby to assist any animal in need and can be contacted are on 07 5588 2222 (9am - 5pm) or 06 5588 2177 (after hours). #conservation #tourism #whales #seaworldau

Wilderness misadventures This is becoming a familiar theme for rangers & rescue agencies. If you are not experienced in the wilderness, you need to get training or use a guide! That 76 degree sunny day for a mountain hike can drop to 52 degrees or less & if wind, rain, sleet you can be in trouble from hypothermia! Over reliance on cell phones can get you in trouble too! Dead battery or loss of signal means no calling, and no gps. Can you navigate with a map & compass or find north with stars? Start a fire? Basic first aid? Cant assume no animal incidents w/ bear, snakes, or what have you... Similar issues with inexperienced kayakers, being swamped in freezing water temps, etc. You can die from what you don't know! https://lnkd.in/gi2KsvUv
