The new drama Adolescence has prompted national discussion about the challenges facing children and young people, from online influence to peer dynamics and youth violence. At Crest Advisory, our research with the Youth Endowment Fund found that while social media can be a space of support, it also exposes young people to violent and sexually violent content. This content can affect their perceptions of crime, feelings of safety, and behaviour offline. Yet, children and young people are often left out of these conversations.
