Fantastic news from the Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture and a huge milestone in the construction of HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, with the tunnel boring machine (TBM) Caroline having completed a five-mile tunnel drive under London. The 2,050-tonne TBM broke through overnight, having installed a total of 4,217 concrete tunnel rings! This milestone means the Northolt Tunnel, which will take high-speed trains from the outer edge of the capital at West Ruislip into the new Old Oak Common super-hub station in west London, is now 93% complete. TBM Caroline was launched in October 2022 with teams working around the clock since then to operate the machine and create the new tunnel shaft. She is the second machine to reach Green Park Way, following TBM Sushila which completed its drive earlier in the year. Congratulations to the project team! #TransformingPerfomance #Rail
