This report presents a rare case of ageusia and prolonged aural fullness associated with teprotumumab treatment for thyroid eye disease. A 71-year-old patient experienced these unusual sensory side effects after seven cycles of therapy, leading to treatment discontinuation. Efficacy and safety of #belimumab in patients with #lupus #nephritis in real-world clinical practice: 🔹Combined treatment with belimumab provides better disease #remission without increasing the risk of #renal flare and kidney-related events or death.  🔹Treatment effect of belimumab is more significant in patients with lower #proteinuria levels. 🔹Belimumab has a favorable #safety profile, reduces the dosage of steroids, and decreases the risk of respiratory tract infections. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dqaAtKgi

New research by Colombel et al. shows that #risankizumab induction therapy significantly improves symptoms in #Crohn’s disease as early as Week 1, predicting future clinical and endoscopic outcomes. The #ADVANCE and #MOTIVATE studies demonstrate greater reductions in stool frequency and abdominal pain by Week 2, with sustained clinical and endoscopic remission at Week 52. Despite its severity, ATTR-CM remains an underdiagnosed condition, which can have devastating consequences for patients.   ATTR-CM, a type of amyloidosis, occurs due to amyloid proteins building up in the heart. Did you know that REMS technology can be used in some clinical situations where traditional DXA scans might fall short? In a paper on fragility score, Echolight’s REMS-based Bone Mineral Density (BMD) T-score was able to measure a significantly lower BMD value in comparison to the DXA BMD T-score in fractured patients with secondary osteoporosis (caused by conditions like diabetes and anorexia). This suggests that REMS may be more sensitive in detecting reduced bone density in such patients.
