According to the #ESOTC2024, the year 2024 registered the second-highest number of days on record with 'strong' to 'extreme heat stress.' 🔥 In 2024, 60% of Europe saw more days than average with at least 'strong heat stress', defined as a “feels-like” temperature of 32°C or higher. 📅 On 17 July, 20% of Europe experienced at least 'very strong heat stress', matching the record for the largest area affected in a single day previously set on 7 August 2010. 🌙 The number of tropical nights was the second highest on record, with 37% of Europe, particularly in the southeast, experiencing more than average. ❄️ Cold stress days were at a record low, but those that did occur ranked in the more severe categories.
