On March 4, Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 12 performed their final flight. HM-12 was one of two Navy squadrons still flying the MH53-E Sea Dragon helicopter. Today, March 21, HM-12 held their sundown ceremony, deactivating the command and leaving their sister command, the HM-15 “Blackhawks”, as the last Navy squadron flying the MH53-E Sea Dragon. Celebration and an ending to our time. Yeah, this final flight is huge. It is. It's pretty exciting moment for us to take this last aircraft out of the local area and bring it to its final destination, its resting place. So our squadron, as we start drawing down our mission, our mission is to train pilots and aircrew to go to the fleet. And so we've trained our last pilot and this will kind of signify the moment that we're mission complete. It's a pretty important moment in the squadron's history. It's a bittersweet moment to see the helicopter. Have one last flight inner.

Great job! But, that about does it. Every squadron I flew in other than the vt’s and ht’s is gone. VC-5, HC-4, HC-1, HC-2, HM-12 all in the history books. So are most of the aircraft. I guess I’m getting old:)
